Huddle Today is reporting that Saint John location is opening December 15th, 2022. And the Quispamsis location is opening December 21st, 2022. As well they are planning to open a third location in the Greater Saint John Region somewhere in the McAllister Drive area for the summer of 2023. Saying they want it to be in proximity to McAllister Place.

Some McAllister Place updates:

Santa’Ville and The Vintage Patch is now open at McAllister Place.

The Children’s Place is closing down at McAllister Place. Closing date is January 2023.

Hart's 2nd location, (Hart Home), is now open next to Cineplex. This store is focused on curtains, beds, bedding, pillows, and yarn.

Candy World is opening Friday December 16th at 80 McAllister Drive next to Michaels. This location is a large candy store.

Apparently an excavator was dropped off in a temporarily fenced off area right next to Petsmart at East Point Shopping Centre. An owner of an interior construction company said there are rumours of an addition to the building for a new retail tenant.

MrBeast Burger has arrived in the city. They are a virtual restaurant brand. (Meaning no physical restaurant location). They are operating a ghost kitchen out of 1216 Sand Cove Road. It's delivery only with pickup available at 1216 Sand Cove Road.

Fit 4 Less inside the Atlantic Superstore on Rothesay Avenue will be undergoing renovations and an expansion. 12,000sf of extra workout space will be added. As well as an exterior entrance and will also transition into a 24/7 gym. Construction begins January 23rd.

Also, Celebrate at East Point Shopping Centre is undergoing a renovation right now.

The former Starbucks, (next to Mary Browns) at 944 Fairville Blvd. on the west side has been labeled as "Leased" on the recently updated site plans.

Maybe a Fat Bastard Burrito? Mary Brown’s recently bought the chain. Maybe the franchise owner will take advantage of the shared space and diversify. I hope so, they are great!

I see Saint John Bakery has closed their 4 locations as of today to evaluate their options - issues with costs and labour. I always thought 4 locations was a little excessive in a city like ours. Hope they reopen. I wonder what this means for the spot in the Market that has been undergoing renovations for them to move in?

I agree that four locations is quite excessive.

Just last week, the owner made a Facebook post saying that if more customers didn't come he would have to close the Grand Bay location - now he's shut (although, temporarily) all locations.

I can't see them re-opening - which will make another empty spot in the City Market, after the City wouldn't allow The Baking Stone sale to go through.

That whole Market issue didn't sit right with me - did they do any due diligence regarding a business plan, financial viability etc? Who's been paying for the renovations?

Likely a challenge for them overall is inflation and generally people making price over quality sacrifices in order to simply make ends meet. I personally love their breads and desserts but it is more expensive and likely they've seen a drop in consumers who, due to rising costs everywhere else, have had to make sacrifices. Which is a shame. I hope they can at least make a go with one location in the interim and we don't loose them as a business overall.

The Children's Place is now gone at McAllister Place. They were quick to remove the signage, hopefully it's an indication something is coming very soon.

Swiss Chalet is temporarily closed at 86 Consumers Drive. The location has now been switch over to corporate and will re-open after undergoing renovations.

Any news on Saint John Bakery? I suspect no news is bad news as they’ve disabled their Facebook page. I would like to know what the market has planned for the space they were renovating in the market for them and more importantly, who was paying for it.
