Lots of multi-unit housing near the U of A either under develpoment or in planning right now, great to see! I feel much of that should've been developed years ago considering the student housing need, but better late than never.

It will be interesting to see if those population trends continue this year. If so, you would think there'd be a considerable uptick in new housing starts in Edmonton and Calgary this year.

Edmonton, Alberta Jan 2022:1,213.6 December 2022: 1,249.3 = gain of 35,700 people

Calgary, Alberta Jan 2022: 1,277.9 December 2022: 1,314.3 = gain of 36,400 people

Likely a similar proportion that have been moving to YEG for the past several years. Reality is that the bulk of the growth is urban and split between Edmonton and Calgary. Sure some of the other smaller centres are seeing growth but not as fast as they were pre-2015. Yes, the energy sector is doing well but it's a far cry from what it was prior to the correction of 2015 despite healthy energy prices.

Renovations are complete to Enterprise Square. U of A has moved 600 staff members into the building as of a week or so ago. It's is mostly fully occupied. There is an announcement/celebration coming later in the month. These are mostly staff, not students, from North Campus to make more classroom space at North Campus. The employees are here in the office minimum 4 days a week. Very positive news for Downtown.
