174 Ottawa Street | ? | 4 fl | Proposed

This is next to 180 Ottawa St which Indwell is currently renovating. Given that this is also affordable units, I suspect it's also Indwell doing it:

Quote:
DA-21-162

To demolish existing building located at 174 Ottawa St. N., and construct a 4-storey mixed use building. Includes 150m2 of commercial and 450m2 of amenity/office space at grade level. Upper 3-storeys consists of 33 (affordable tenure) res. units.

I work right round the corner from this site, they're going to demolish the 1 storey part of the building, as well as a peice of the pink part of the building adjacent (I think it was a stairwell?). You can tell what's going to be taken down because they haven't done any work to it, a stark contrast from the rest of the building which has lost it's pink paint, and has a new roof.

Good riddance. I was hoping to see the old CD bar get turned into a nice bar again one day but a new build on the spot is much better, especially when its part of an affordable housing project.

I don't know of a thread for the adjacent renovation of 180 Ottawa, also by Indwell, but here's a recent shot:

Not gonna lie, not huge on the paneling - historically that has always been a "we needed to cover up the shit underneath" solution - still better than nothing though.

Why does the title of this thread still say "Proposed"

arch plans for the new building are posted for a MV application. Not the prettiest, but that's ok..

Yeah, pretty standard for an Indell build but at least its intensification.

I didn't realize there would be a second phase to this project. It makes more sense now that they an investment would be made to the building's vertical circulation (I'm assuming they added an elevator). I also didn't know that it was an Indwell project.
