IMO the tower looks a lot better than I expected, particularly in person. The glass is really good.

I saw the glass on the One in person the other day and looks promising, though still too early too tell. I feel like 160 Front is almost done in the time we've been waiting for the One! Remember going for lunch walks pre-COVID when we were all in the office and seeing the pit almost get filled - now that was well over 2 years ago...

Good to hear. Pictures aren't always accurate. The trim is growing on me too although I still think the scallops connecting in the corners would be cooler.

SUPERTALLS in TORONTO: in a few years the city could home to 4 or more under construction supertalls.

Steveve’s compilation of under construction and proposed supertalls for Toronto which includes requests for additional height for The One and Pinnacle’s SkyTower (both of which are u/c as supertalls at lower approved supertall heights).

Two more projects are just shy of 300 metres @ 299 metres including Sugar Wharf Phase 2 already in the site prep and demolition phase.

Note that the shorter of Frank Gehry’s “FORMA” towers (seen greyed out in the diagram) sold quickly and has already begun site prep and demolition. This bodes well for FORMA’s supertall to move into construction as well in the near future.

Pinnacle One Yonge’s Phase 3 @ 305 metres is also very likely to get built given the success of Phase 1 and Sky Tower (Phase 2). There’s also an on-going debate about whether Concord Sky (officially u/c @ 299 metres) belongs on
the supertall under construction list since one its elevations cracks the 300 metre mark.

*There’s other supertall proposals (not pictured) deemed unlikely to move forward (no rezoning approval) such as 1200 Bay (324 metres).

I can't imagine how this list will look in 5 years, let alone in another ten years. In the meantime, I'm interested in the meeting for the height increased asked for in the One project and the tallest One Yonge tower.

Nice juxtaposition of the TD Centre and TD Bank’s stunning (and quirky ;-) new home rising on the left.

That platform hanging off the side is crazy. Do they close the sidewalk when they are unloading material? LOL

I can't believe thay made it to the 18th floor this year. This time next year we should be at around 42-45. Maybe more?

Cladding has begun on the metallic sections of the facade, I took these whilst on a walk to City Hall. Note that the cladding is wrapped ina protective layer so we'll see the final colour and effect later on.

Great view from above. Note the curve of the roof steel exactly mirrors the curve element rising from grade.

The first sign of the diagrid aluminium cladding being installed on a hanger corner… appears to be either insulation pieces (with aluminum to be added) or a protective wrap. Time will tell... what a Xmas tease.

An insider confirmed yesterday that these cladding corners just installed (see below) are just test panels… and even better news, the ‘champagne’ colour originally previewed has changed to be closer to a gold tone for the final cladding yet to be installed.

Love that news.

Covered test panels are on the right.

Still hate the mega-podium but the glass is shockingly good for a Concord project.

The tower form is reminiscent of the Sheraton Landmark in Vancouver that was torn down a few years ago. At least it is to me.

I can kind of see it near the top incomplete floor plates. I miss seeing the Landmark Tower when I go to Vancouver now.
