Was just there myself. Guess the books are just to get people (middle aged women who buy most books I guess) in the door to buy overpriced throw pillows, scented candles and giant tins of popcorn.

Rideau is the best Indigo location, but the worst Indigo store.
Was much better across the street. Quite a downgrade.

Went there last weekend and what a waste of time that was.
Who ever planned that store totally missed the mark as far as a bookstore.
The manager will have to decide if they'll selling books or bedspreads, candles and children's toys. (There's actually a bed setup on the second level)
At one point I thought I was at IKEA!!?
Get back to be a bookstore.....Just saying

The indigo near IKEA is much better with more space. I find the new Rideau Indigo cramped

I have loved going to the old Chapters store for almost 20 years. The new Indigo store is awful. Its so small and crowded. I even found some of the finishes to be more in line with a temporary location than a brand new build of a store. I'm wondering if they're actually going to do a major overhaul of the old Chapters location and move back in there as a large and beautiful Indigo. To me that's the only thing that makes sense, because I can't accept that this is a permanent Indigo store. Awful.

There's still a Coles at Carlingwood. Although I assume they're owned by Indigo.

Owners of the old Chapters building have a for lease sign, so there's no way they are moving back in there, unfortunately.

Indigo bought Chapters (and thus Coles as well) over twenty years ago.

They have cleared a massive block on the third floor (from Simons to the Bay bridge) and part of the 2nd (between Indigo and Lulumon) that seem to be part of the same construction project.

Not sure if that's all one block on the 3rd floor. There is a service corridor to the left of the elevators.

Simons needs the service corridor still.

There's a Reddit thread suggesting Uniqlo might be taking over that massive spot formerly occupied by Victoria Secret / Pink, but take it with a grain of salt... Here are a few comments from the thread that suggest it's potentially true:

How did you hear this rumour?
People that work in the mall. Uniqlo initially Pre covid looked at the Victoria’s Secret + Pink spots. But decided against those spaces. so they’ve been eyeing empty spots in the mall for a while now

It's confirmed they are coming to the Rideau Centre in 2023

Yes heard the same a few months ago.
Quote:
Yes they have signed the lease and are coming to Rideau

My friend told me that it will be the store in front of the customer service on the third floor, near the Bay. It is under renovation right now. Here is the location: https://imgur.com/a/SpV356C
