Construction is humming along at the site of the new St. Paul’s Hospital. The project officially broke ground last year, and since then, construction has been moving right on schedule. Concrete has been poured for parking levels P3 and P4, and work is now underway on Level P2.

Get an on-the-ground look at the hospital’s construction progress with Kevin Little, senior manager of design and project delivery:

By the end of December, we should have a large area of concrete poured for the hospital’s main floor (Level 1). And in 2023, you’ll really start to see the hospital take shape above ground! It’ll be a few more years of construction before the new hospital is expected to complete in 2026 and open to patients in 2027.

Looks like they removed that temporary/future shift for National a day or two ago.

Might be up at ground level in 2 months?

Although they indicated five last spring, I think they've said they now only need four for the hospital. However, if you look on the extreme left hand edge, you can see the piling rig that has already sunk secant piles round 50% of the Keltic office building that they're developing for Masimo. My guess is they should be digging not too far into the new year, and have a crane up some time around the middle of next year?

That seems unlikely in the next year. They haven't submitted a development application yet.

They were supposed to announce in mid 2022 which of the three teams that were selected would be building it. As far as I know that hasn't happened.

Concrete continues to be poured every day at the new St. Paul’s Hospital near Station Street. The concrete floors on levels P4, P3, and P2 of the underground parkade have now been poured, and we’re 30% through pouring floors for P1.
From Dec 21. Still on P1.

In 2023, the new hospital will start to appear above ground
In January, PCL will start pouring the concrete floor (or ‘slab’) for the main floor. And from there, the building will start to take shape…with rebar and concrete walls and columns.
By December, floors 2 through 7 will also appear. We’ll have to wait until 2024 before the hospital reaches its full 11-storey height — equivalent to a 21-storey high-rise condo — but even with 7 storeys, it’s going to be an impressive sight.
We’ll continue building new roads and installing underground utilities around the site too.
