I very much like the idea of this 2nd floor patio; it really adds a lot to the building.

I remember when they were building the Hyatt Place hotel that there was a discussion on the forums about the possibility of them doing the same thing. There is an area on the front corner of the building where they could have built a 2nd floor patio, but obviously it wasn't in their plans.

They could do something similar with the Three Sisters on top of the podium between the towers.

Some changes have been made to the proposed apartment building on the NW corner of Main & Vaughan Harvey.

The building is now 10 storeys (previously 9 storeys), and the design appears a bit different.

There is only one render currently available (from the T&T), but, this proposal will be coming before public hearings in January, so additional renderings will likely be available before too long.

Current plans are for 162 residential units (1-3 bedroom), with ground level commercial and two levels of underground parking totaling 166 parking spaces. There will be both some affordable housing units and barrier free accessible units in the building, but the number of each was not specified in the article.

The Mayor posted a photo of the building showing the “floor plan” it’s still the L shaped building, just looks like we got a different angle finally, instead of just the face on from Main

I agree that the footprint is the same. The building however is taller, and the exterior appearance has been changed.

Here is the original rendering:

The two storey glassed upper level has been replaced with a more traditional look. I also imaging the ground floor to penthouse glass facade at the very corner of Main & Vaughan Harvey is likely also gone (but that is difficult to tell on the current perspective.

also note that the building is now referred to as 1333 Main, not 1299 Main.

Here is the ground floor plan that you mentioned, which was posted on Mayor Dawn Arnold's Facebook page. I am pretty sure this is identical to the initial plan, and that any changes to the render have to do with exterior design and added height.

The floor plan has changed from a C shape to the L shape to add more surface parking. The original.

So, the Robinson Residences might not actually break ground in 2023 then. This extension gives the proponents the option of starting as late as early 2024.

I imagine financing, supply chain issues and labour shortages are rearing their ugly heads again.

It's frustrating to see these downtown developments being announced, and then watch them get delayed later. St. Bernard's Square and now this Galco project. But that's the situation we're in with labour shortages, supply chain issues, rising interest rates etc. I hope these projects eventually get off the ground, as both would be excellent for the downtown core.

I think the reason behind Galco’s extension was because the contract would have expired at some point over the winter. That would have affect them being able to start in the spring, summer or even next fall.
