1. I'm glad something is getting built on this lot. It's currently a parking lot sandwiched between Waller Creek and I35.
2. This thing took quite a haircut off the top from the CVC! It gave it a pretty cool angled roof.

This feels like the sort of building that might only last for a decade or two, if I-35 gets rebuilt according to plan and schedule, and the legislature peels back the now useless CVCs. But that also feels like a pipe dream.

I'm not sure if this is the correct thread but it seems to be IMHO.

I haven't seen anyone mentioning this new 20K seat music venue proposed for West Austin. It'll be on Fitzhugh Road, and is currently in the proposal process.

With HEB building a new store on the site of the old Nutty Broan Ampitheatre, this would be a welcome relpacement for the area. Does anyone know any more about this place?

The more than 20,000-seat outdoor amphitheater is set to fit more spectators than the Hollywood Bowl. The venue, northwest of Hwy. 71 and Southwest Parkway, will be uphill from Austin’s downtown and will overlook the skyline.

Yeah, it doesn't feel like a very serious proposal and that seemed to be the general consensus at the time as well. Felt like and still feels like someone trying to upzone some undeveloped property so they can increase the value.

I don't seriously think we're getting anything resembling that built out there.

I don't have a link where I received the information. Maybe it's misinformation, but that's why I post it here since I'd never heard of it mentioned here before and I don't wanna sift through an entire plan for a whole hour. Lol

I plan to go through it later when I have more time because I didn't realize how long it was and don't have time this morning.

I don't understand how people can say the parking garages would be too radical.... Really, I mean I'd rather have no surface parking in Zilker Park. At least a garage will consolidate parking and would open up surface parks for reintegration back to parkland....

As for Barton Springs Road, ideally would be best to tunnel under the park but that won't happen so the next best thing if people are worried about a traffic bottleneck is to build 2 or 3 pedestrian bridges over the road to connect each side and add barriers so the traffic just goes through the park aside from any parking garage exits...

On the surface, I really like the plan. While I support reducing the size of and amount of traffic on Barton Springs (as a through-street to Mopac), I have difficulty in seeing how that could truly happen given current realities...though I'm all up for being pleasantly surprised. Consolidating parking is a must and reducing the number of cars interacting with pedestrians throughout would be a huge win.

This plan is the best realistic version of what we could get. Its not ideal but Barton Springs for better or worse (mostly worse) is a major East/West access to mopac and closing it and diverting 100% of that traffic to CC or 6th street would be a nightmare.
