And theres still more presales happening tomorrow (Venue/Promoters).

Halifax too have scalpers tickets already on sale, but the numbers available are wayyy lower that Moncton.

I wouldnt be surprised if a lot of the Moncton crowd tries their hands on Halifax instead (also with the show on a Monday, easier to book a long weekend for it)

Ticket prices were never reasonable for this concert. I’ve seen Celine Dion in Ottawa in 2019 for less than $300 and those were floor seats about 10 rows back from front row. One thing I noticed with the Michael Buble concert is that ticket prices drop dramatically closer to the concert date. As a matter of fact, I paid $260 a ticket for 15 rows back from front row when the tickets first went on sale. A few days before the concert, there were seats in the second row from front for $170. I’ll be holding off until the last week before the concert or so to see if they drop. If they stay sky high like this, the resale market is in for a rude awakening. This might work in big populated cities, but good luck getting people around here to pay $700+ for one ticket.

Hockey Canada been sending instructions on how to buy tickets for the World Juniors, with some info here and there.

Supposedly 75% are already sold out.

Prices

Moncton (15 games)
3 pre-tournament games (2 includes Canada)
10 primary round games, and 2 quarter finals

Centre – $650 plus fees (43$/game plus fees)

Corners/Ends - $575 plus fees (38$/game plus fees)

Halifax (21 games)
No words on how many pre tournament games

Lower Bowl (& upper bowl, rows 1-12) – $1,200 plus fees (57$/game plus fees)

Upper Bowl - $1,050 plus fees (50$/games plus fees)

I checked out the map for Moncton. On the sides there is basically only single tickets left, except a few in the top rows of 115/118. There is still a good amount of tickets sold on the corners and ends. I am quite impressed, I am not sure who is buying up all these tickets but its really good for Moncton that without a Canada game people are buying at these prices. There's a good chance games like Finland/USA on NYE will sell out.

I just brought up the Avenir Centre outdoor camera and it appears they have started to prepare the ice surface.

I think the ice plant will keep the skating surface good up to 5 or 10 degrees.

I attended Cats at the Avenir Centre and have to say I was extremely impressed. For reference I have worked in theatre, have friends in Broadway shows and have seen most shows on Broadway in the last 8 years.

I actually enjoyed this production of Cats better than when I saw the Cats revival on Broadway which the current National Tour is based on. There were a number of understudies on the night I went and they along with the rest of the cast were wonderful. The money number, "Memory", got a standing ovation. Even saw some of the security staff getting up from their seats to join the ovation.

Their tech team was top notch. Cats is a show with many mics and sound cues. No glitches at all. Sound was not haunted by a large echo which can be an issue with theatre tours put into arenas.

They also had live musicians rather than just pre-recorded tracks. Usually a tour doesn't travel with a full orchestra but will have key musicans and their conductor tour and then hire local region musicians. If they did with this Cats then that's jobs for Maritime artists.

To have an official National Tour/Broadway Across America production come to the Maritimes and in particular, Moncton is huge. These shows normally do not go any further easts than Montreal if they come leave the US and come into Canada. I don't think we've actually had one of the national tours ever come to Moncton. I'm not counting the Notre Dame de Paris event as that was not related to Broadway Across America and not a National Tour that came out from a Broadway run. Notre Dame Paris when in NYC was Off-Broadway.

The only downside of this tour and the Notre Dame de Paris event were the ticket prices.
Notre Dame de Paris played Lincoln Centre in NYC right before it's Moncton stop. I was in NYC at the time and was able to see it there for only $36 Canadian plus fee. In Moncton prices started at $96 plus fees and that's for the nosebleed.

Closer to home I compared Cats in Moncton sold through Ticketmaster vs Cats in Halifax sold through Tickets Atlantic.
Tickets in Moncton in the nosebleed were starting at $75 for children and $85 for adults plus fees.
Tickets in Halifax started at only $25 for children and $45 for adults plus fees.
That's a huge difference in price for the exact same production.

I wonder how iron clad the contract is between the city and Ticketmaster?

It appears Ticketmaster is just yet another monopoly Canadians will have to get used to

I have no idea what's in the contract, but this appears to affect the Wildcats also. I notice other teams in the Q have promo nights for weeknights with significant discounts. Charlottetown had a promo recently where if you bought a ticket to a game on a Wednesday and they won, you got a free ticket for the next game. You would never see anything like this at Avenir Centre. If i were to guess, The Wildcats would have to fork out fees to ticketmaster for every one of these comped tickets, but that is just a guess.

The only promos available this season that I've seen is Atlantic Superstore will have a little handout with a promo code for 5$ off, but you won't see the Wildcats advertising it.

Another issue is that for redeeming unused tickets you have to go physically into the box office to do the exchange. Ridiculous in 2022.

The only good thing about Ticketmaster is that their platform is superior to any of the other smaller companies in Canada. Whenever the contract is up with ticketmaster I hope they look more closely at their options, or something is seriously done about this monopoly by then.

I have a different take on it, this completely flips the supply/demand dynamics upside down, and I'm sure lots of resellers are now stuck with tickets for the original show that they'll have to unload at a loss. A second show added a month later isn't the scenario they expected to see LOL

I'm not a country music fan, but this is great for all those who got shut out of this the first time around.

This seems to be the way some artists are going now. Leave tour dates open for the possibility that if you sell well you add additional shows. Much better to do 2-3 nights in the same place than having to hit the road every day after each show. I hope some bigger artists that we might not normally get give Moncton a chance by doing multiple dates.

Ticketmaster always says they're out there for the fans but it's baloney. CBC Marketplace investigated them a few years ago and showed that Ticketmaster attended large reseller conventions and worked with resellers to secure large numberes of seats. Circumventing the system to get seats, multiple accounts etc, bots.

If TM really was about the fans they could easily make it that once you purchase a seat you cannot transfer it or resell it. My Cats tickets were not transferable. Tickets I had in Las Vegas were also non-transferable. Screenshots could not be used either. No PDF files. I had to be at the show with the people I bought tickets for and we had to all enter together. Neither show was high on reseller lists to sell anyway.
But for Shania and Garth and Taylor.... these high demand shows...and resellers are getting the seats. To try and buy Garth tickets a week ago we had to pre-register as a "verified fan" to "assure that only fans get tickets". It's just window dressing. The verification means absolutely nothing. In the end, tickets were gone fast and they also went up in price fast...dynamic pricing. My mother and I didn't even get to the stage where TM would let us try buying. We weren't selected.

I loathe this company so much.

the United States will face Finland in Quispamsis on Dec. 19, Germany will play Austria in Antigonish on Dec. 20 and Latvia on Dec. 22 in Bouctouche, and Truro will host Slovakia and Austria on Dec. 23.
