No, it's the formal agreement that Council needs to sign to accept the proposed public benefit in exchange for the height they were approved.

It's a key piece needed before permits for development can be issued.

^It's for the approved 21-storey version of this proposal. Regional Council has to approve the post-bonus public benefit portion of downtown proposals. Normally it means construction is imminent or has already started.

I thought this got derailed again ages ago since there has been no progress for so long. I guess the bleatings of certain Council members that the province did not need to step in to streamline their approval processes were not necessarily accurate.

Is there any update on the approval of the request heard in early April? How long does it usually take to get the permit? It seems like a very drawn out process.

The Roy has a Granville St. address. This is the front side... though I don't think there is a back side rather just two faces on different streets.

If you think back to the original Roy building, the Grannville St side always had storefronts at sidewalk level even if they were well-disguised.

The original Roy building had its most prominent storefronts on Barrington, though (1955 below).

Of course, Barrington used to be the main retail shopping street back then. It no longer is, like most such streets throughout much of North America.

I actually liked the Granville side of the original Roy better than the Barrington side, and that holds true with the new 'Roy'. I think the Barrington facade fell flat with the current iteration, but the other side seems to imitate a building of the early 20th century quite well in it's architectural layout. JMHO.

Would be incredible to finally see some activity at this site. I remember all the controversy around it 20+ years ago when I was a student. Now, so many other projects have been proposed and built while this empty lot lingers on... I'll believe it when I see it!

I think every one of these development links, should have a way of keeping a direct link to the actual up-to-date development proposal, having it for easy access. So many times, I want to look up what a development looks like and the actual information is so far away. Can this be done?
