It's been a bit so I want to make sure I am up to date on the port expansion. What's actually 100% happening:

-Slip infill currently ongoing to get to 800,000 TEUs
-2x larger cranes arriving over the winter
-doubling rail line from the port to Moosehead (AFAIK)

And what's vaguely possibly happening
-Departure of AIM or at least its shredding/office/storage operations (I presume they will continue to ship out of the port) to an industrial park
-More infill (the three 'ponds' just west of the current cranes)

And what's realistically left to do
-Something more productive at Lower Cove or Long Wharf, which are each about 650,000 sf. I presume one of the two is leased to developers before the decade is out, but the other should continue to serve as a dedicated port facility for bulk or non containerized cargo
-Repair/modernize the southernmost and last remaining pier on the west side, and infill its slip
-Enlarge bulk liquid storage facility between Gateway St and the rail spur
-Multiple rail lines on infill south of the causeway connecting to the potash terminal (moonshot that would likely only come up if mining starts again, but preliminary engineering and environmental has been done)

Who owns the industrial land south of Crown and Broad? I don't think the port does.

Seems like the simple solution to the problem is to send more trains to the port.

Once the new intermodal yard in the rear of the port is complete that’ll be a big boost.

It has a tax levy so definitely not owned by the port. I believe potash folks own it

A public hearing is scheduled for Monday, November 14th for new multi-unit buildings at Cambridge Estates, (200 Cambridge Drive).

Two 4-storey buildings, (one 40-units and the other 24-units). As well as multiple two-unit residential buildings along a future extension of Cambridge Drive.

The developer indicated the following development timeline:
  • 2023: Completion of Cambridge Drive and looping of water services.
  • 2024: Start construction of buildings.

Here's the council presentation: https://pub-saintjohn.escribemeetings.co...Vq4r8bhxcIKOdM45IdKLU9kY5kqB_GeFtJLPyM9U

I should have been more specific. I meant this lot, which also has a tax levy. https://paol-efel.snb.ca/paol.html?v=1.0.81&lang=en&pan=01617452

It looks like a new power station being built on Paradise Row. Info?

Edit: Nevermind haha. https://www.country94.ca/2020/08/05/saint-john-energy-looks-to-move-uptown-substation/

An update: Looks like AllNewBrunswick was incorrect, JYSK didn't buy 384 Lancaster Avenue. The NB Museum will be temporarily located in the building while their new permanent home is constructed. Opening to the public, (by appointment only), in 2023. The NB Museum Boutique will be opening in Brunswick Square on Saturday, November 19th.

That's not what the property database says, Jysk Linen'N Furniture Inc. has in fact bought the building at 384 Lancaster Avenue.

The museum's temporary location is elsewhere on the street.

Really, didn't know it was on the property database. Any link to see it? Just assumed since the museum was announced for Lancaster Avenue that it would of been that building. Are there any other available building/space on that street the museum is going?

If it’s not that building than by process of elimination it would have to be big warehouse looking building closers to Simms Corner.

Global News NB confirms the temporary NB Museum will indeed be at 226 Lancaster Ave. https://globalnews.ca/news/9284100/nb-museum-directors-facility/

It’s exciting that we finally have a public answer to the museum collections and archives being cared for, and where. The new building can’t come soon enough, but it’ll be fascinating to see what the new plans are, and what happens to the Douglas Avenue building when they vacate over the winter.

Time to sniff around and see if they're going to sell the building. It needs a serious investor and is likely only worth converting into a high-end residential use.

On that note, why do provincially and city owned or leased properties seem to have serious roof problems more than commercial residential or industrial? Bureaucratic neglect?

24- unit 4 story with underground parking.

I stumbled across this render for 510 Ellerdale Street. I don't recall this ever being in any council pack but it was put on the market in February. The listing claims it has all the approvals needed.
