Houston has a few visual advantages that Austin will find very hard to surpass:
Houston has significant and imposing office towers that have large floorplates, whereas Austin only has one. Our supertalls are both going to be comparatively skinny, with one of them significantly skinnier. We’d need five or six of these to match the visual impression left by Houston’s peak height
and bulk. It isn’t only about height, but also bulk and heft, lack of gaps, and multiple skylines. Houston wins on all counts.
Austin has our topography, river, viewpoints, and development that is still running on many cylinders, as well as a primary skyline that is a touch more aesthetically pleasing, but definitely not larger.
