The site plan was filed back in May, so it's relatively far along.

Waterline will be the tallest for only 1-2 years. Crazy.

WOW! Amazing! I love it!

Are Wildcat Capital and DHA Capital still planning on a tower of up to 90 stories on the lot adjacent to the Austonian? If so, that would make three 1000'+ towers in Austin.

Oh, I forgot about the Railyard potential.

Actually I was thinking about this earlier but I'm wondering if this tower (provided it gets going in 6 months time) will actually top out before Waterline? The Waterline is a much bulkier building, while this tower is skinny with a small footprint. This may be a situation where this one could end up getting to the finish line before Waterline.

That's a good point. The finish time on both of these may end up being very close.

I'd bet there's also a fairly good chance that the post office and/or Hobby blocks could go 1000'+

With the uncertainty of the office market and those sites being complete blocks, I don't see that happening. In the near-term, however, we'll see any supertall developments built on smaller plots - like this one.

So besides Austin being one of only 4 cities in the US with more than one supertall, and the tallest state capital skyline, it'll also be only the third time that a US city has had two supertalls under construction at the same time, the other two cities being New York and Chicago.

Sadly still shorter than Miami’s U/C 1041’ Waldorf-Astoria.

6 feet on a supertall is nothing, though. Imagine trying to see a man standing on the roof near the edge of one.

At the same time most people are happy and celebrating this announcement, some may view your original comment as negative, rude and quite unnecessary.

I’m not sure how one’s response of us being shy of Miami’s first super-tall is being considered as rude and/or unnecessary.

Seriously. Odd confrontation.

I will tell you what, I am pissed that we're 6' short as well, but I dig the hell out of the Waldorf and am excited to see it complete.

It wasn’t. Maybe it might not be the type of comment someone finds substantive, but it wasn’t rude or unnecessary in the same way that the reply to me was rude and dismissive. Thank you for the back-up.
