Previously reported in the Atlantic section, but not reported nationally.
Highway 11 in eastern NB is now divided completely from Shediac (where it connects with the 15 northbound from Moncton) as far north as the Cocagne Sud Road. Except for about a 5 km section around Cocagne, the highway is now divided as far as the Little Bouctouche River, a distance of about 30 km or so. If you include the 15 to Moncton, the divided section totals about 50 km.
When done, combined with the Kicking Horse Canyon Bridge this will be the most impressive stretch of rural highway in Canada. Just wish the Feds would get a fu***** move on with the Yoho project...
Highway 8 between Spence's Bridge to Merritt has finally reopened today. Beautiful desert geography around there if you ever see a pic.
I love that highway and was last on it a couple of years ago. The scenery and the Nicola River are so different than what I'm used to. We had to stop for awhile for a large herd of bighorn sheep.

Highway 8 between Spences Bridge and Merritt is definitely one of the lesser known spectacular highway drives in Canada.
Iam trying to understand BC's highway numbering system. Why are there letters after some of them? Why are they not just a whole different number?
The number represent the trunk route, and A, B, etc are branches or alternate route. The same system is used for most provinces in Canada (BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, PE), although most of them only gets to A and B.

Here in ON, most have been downloaded to the cities. Those that are still around are short. I am noticing BC's are quite long in comparison.

I was on Hwy 11B not too long ago along Lake Temiskaming. The only section that's actually 11B is from 11 to Cobalt. The rest was downloaded to Temiskaming Shores.
Another interesting thing I noticed are EDR signs for Hwy 11 using that route and also Hwy 101 in Quebec. There was actually an Hwy 11 EDR sign on Hwy 65 just before the Quebec border.
