Looks like F8 will be increasing YVR-PVR from 5x weekly to daily starting Jan 2023. Guess this would be the first non-domestic daily route from F8.

To make room for this new flight, YYC and YEG will be reduced 2x weekly to 14x/12x weekly.

For S23, BA will use A350 instead of B777 for the YVR-LHR route. BA doesn't list variant but presumably it's the A350-1000? So no more first class, and no more A380, but there's even more seats than before for the two routes combined.

AI's daily YVR-DEL now extended into S23 schedule.

Yes it’s going to be A350-1000 - another big boost to capacity like you mentioned

AI is really taking advantage of their ability to fly through Russian airspace. Nice to see them daily though, I wish they codeshared with AC so people could connect in YVR to go to DEL.

Seeing new destinations in Europe would be nice. Maybe a one or two new summer seasonal routes.

What markets are left, outside major holiday spots like Rome, and Barcelona (is Scotland served at all)?
Not sure how realistic some of these are, with AC wanting to connect you in Toronto/Montreal and Westjet likely to aim at some of them out of Calgary.

If China doesn't open up I expect to see more Asian destinations. For Europe I only really see frequency additions to current destinations.

Sorry I meant Asian destinations outside of China if I didn't imply that. Possibly something in Vietnam, Nagoya, maybe Cebu, year round BKK, etc. Although some of these are stretches.

Yes, I thought you meant Asian destinations outside of China. As such, I was wondering which ones might be possibilities. What about Dacca (Bangladesh), or Jakarta (Indonesia)?
Is there a big enough market to warrant those? I would rather doubt it, but it's nice to consider, anyway.

I'd assume the Bangladeshi and Pakistani communities in western Canada are growing, so I could maybe see a PIA flight to LHE, or Biman Bangladesh to DAC. I'd think PIA is more likely with a WS codeshare to YYC/YEG/YXE/YQR/YWG etc.

But of course you're right, this is all unlikely in the short and medium term but who knows long term.

I don't think there are any markets left in Europe besides those touristy destinations such as Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, etc. It would be nice to add one of those cities to YVR's portfolio, even as a summer seasonal route.

If YVR was to expand into Asia, I'd love to see SIN increase it's frequency from 3x weekly, BKK go year round, and maybe add Vietnam. I wonder if it's possible to see KIX go year round.

I doubt PIA would fly to Western Canada, still way too small of a population, plus the Alberta Pakistani community is almost double that of BC. Even still you have OK options from Vancouver for the friends and family, Qatar or EK from Seattle, Turkish, British (Flies to Islamabad), and can connect via Toronto/Montreal via Dubai or Doha, on AC, EK or QR.

AC had reduced the season for YVR-BKK, now scheduled to end by the end of March (instead of mid-April).

Other AC changes...

HKG will be using 77W for the entire winter season (instead of 789), but will be reduced to 5-6x weekly.

CUN is now using 789 for the entire season.

YHZ will have suspension for 4 weeks from mid-Jan to mid-Feb.

When an airline does reduces its seasonal operations like that, does it mean that the loads aren't where they wanted it to be ?

It doesn't necessarily mean the route is doing badly, but with operational challenges and staffing challenges the lower performing routes in the system get cut or reduced. So any routes cut or reduced out of YVR (or any airport) are the lower performing routes I'd assume.
