Golds gym at 183/Burnet will be closed and torn down after December 2 to make way for a new development. Anyone have any info about this?

There’s an apartment block going up right next to Gold’s in that stretch….wonder if it’s a phase 2.

Sadface. That's been my gym for years. Hope they open a new location somewhere cause Highland and Anderson Arbor about to get super crowded.

Sadface here too. I joined the gym in 1999 when it was World Gym. I was being told until very recently that they were looking for a new location. I was at the gym yesterday and unfortunately an employee confirmed that this gym is shutting down permanently and not moving.

I wonder if Golds is having financial trouble - they seem to be shutting down all over the country. Tech ridge closed recently too and the remaining ones un Dallas shuttered last year

Most gyms barely survived the lockdowns so not overly surprising.

Combine the increased costs they have today with the drain on their reserves over the past few years and it's just not a good combination.

And Gold's did file for bankruptcy shortly after the lock downs started in 2020.

Driscoll Motors has been vacated and the site plan for June West MF has been approved and released. Should just be a matter of time before we see demo permits filed. Will be nice to see this and the bowling alley redevelopment on Grover going on at the same time.
