The budget for the new Saskatoon Central Library is $134M, so it's comparable. That said, I think the final cost for the Saskatoon one will end up significantly above the current budget.

Memories

Does anyone know what's going on with Memories restaurant in the Quality Inn?

I looks like they are building a patio and put in new windows and door to that patio.

I know the hotel is under renovation but is Memories also getting some work done?

I’d hope so. Really would be the perfect time for the restaurant to get a refresh.

Patio and entrance. Looks like interior work as well. They have been doing updates on their Facebook page.

Actually the interior was completely updated a few years ago.

Highway 11 flyover of Highway 6 is completed. This is higher than the old bridge so should mean a lot less collisions with ethe bridge.

Sasktenders post looking for a prime contractor for 11th Avenue Revitalization Project. No details on the actual project but indicates it will be causing downtown chaos between 2023 and 2026. That one seems to have slipped under my radar, but a Google search indicates the city has spent a million on the design work alone.

Wow a million on design of a streetscape. I must include a lot of utilities and other infrastructure. I agree that this is long overdue. Dead trees and broken sidewalks are not cool on this key street.

Just walked by the SaskPower head office rehab. I can confirm that there are decent sized new trees planted on all 3 sides. There are several driveways where they obviously can't plant, as it looks like they have retained the curved driveway and visitor parking in front - yuk

100% agree. This project is absolutely long overdue. I am really happy with the first project being the Victoria Avenue (and looks so much better) that the city seems to finally be putting priority for full street rehabilitation in the downtown. 11th Avenue next with Dewdney Avenue this upcoming year and then I hope Sask Drive will then get some love.

The Winnipeg Street cloverleaf got a layer of pavement before the snow, so they should be able to finish paving this weekend. When I was by there today it looked like it needed 2 layers.

Hard to tell if they are going to make any effort to have the pathway usable before winter, seems to be a very low priority.

They were paving the cloverleaf today.

Some concrete went down for the path. The level of the concrete was several inches short of the curb, without any of the usual expansion joints you find in sidewalks. I figure a layer of asphalt is going over top. I don't know if that was always the plan or if its an easier to prepare a base this late in the year than trying to compact aggregate on top of wet dirt.

Further over at the curb ramp you can see its not flush with the previously poured cement which is why I think this is just a base layer.

That reminds me. When they re-did Vic East like 15 years ago, they put in those concrete surface intersections. They are really showing their age now and are falling apart. From what I remember being in Minneapolis a number of years ago, they had these kind of interesting everywhere. And they all looked in great shape. Do we just use shittier concrete here or what? Or do they just spend way more on road infrastructure than we do? Either way, those Vic East intersections are due for a refresh.
I think they cut corners here. Inadequate base preparation and insufficient slab thickness. In general the bypass was built a lot better than most of the roads around here. They excavated deep and laid down a thick layer of sand beneath the road base for drainage to prevent frost heaving. Virtually no cracking of the pavement at all yet, aside from some localized spots where the road sank. Highway / city paving is always riddled with cracks after the first winter.

The Winnipeg cloverleaf was fully paved when I was by there today. Last paving left to do is just east of the Coop, the westbound Ring Road exit east on 9th N right turn only ramp. They were doing the final grading on that.

They were also scraping the dirt back for the path going from the north side intersection to Mt Pleasant. The full path south of there to 7th N has that base concrete in place.

The path from 7th N to the Winnipeg Street bridge was paved as of early yesterday morning. The north side all the way to Mt Pleasant was probably paved yesterday, but it's too miserable for me to ride over and check today. -5 is one thing, but -5 and a 50 km/h wind, nope. [it got up to a toasty -2 so I did head over, they paved to 9th N yesterday but not to Mt Pleasant yet, maybe tomorrow or Saturday]

Still a bunch of finishing work going on at the bridge, removing old pavement, backfilling up to new pavement, adding guard rails, etc. Tuesday evening I drove under the bridge and saw they were constructing a rebar cage for a concrete barrier between the eastbound RR lanes and the cloverleaf.

That one traffic pole has been pointing the wrong way for over a month. I guess that lets them wire it up, then they just need to use a crane to turn it 90 degrees when they want to active at it.

Last of the path paving this afternoon. Additional fencing or wall sections need to go up as there are some sizeable drop offs at the edge of the path in a few spots including one 5-6 feet.
