Still no movement on the Galco apartment project on Robinson Street.

Given the time of year, I suspect we will see no excavation now until next spring.

If this building and whatever they're planning for the St. Bernard's Square land could get off the ground in the spring, that would be 2 more surface parking lots eliminated downtown. I know that there's a lot more planned, but I'm really interested in these two.

The wrapping has (finally) come off the windows of Harvest Clean Eats in the Higgins Block at the corner of Main and Botsford. It looks as if interior fit up is almost complete. Looks very nice. Opening must be imminent.

and with this, the transformation of the Higgins Block from the ugly duckling of downtown Moncton into a beautiful swan is virtually complete. The owners of this building deserve an award for what they have accomplished.

One thing I wish is that they would change is the awful chipboard look around the windows. The building has had so much done to it, why not finish it.

Stay tuned!
Is this still a thing we haven’t heard anything about this project yet and PAC has one more month for application before the year ends?

It is still most definitely a thing, but, as with all things development related, the timetable can be problematic. In this particular case, land acquisition is an issue. All I can say is "stay tuned." Hopefully an announcement will be forthcoming in 2023.

But, again, even considering land acquisition troubles, as with all things development related, things change and shit happens. The economic circumstances are different than they were even six months ago. In particular, the costs of borrowing money have worsened, which can affect the viability of a project. This is a mixed use residential building. If borrowing costs and financing get out of control, this can have an effect on the rents that would have to be charged, and if they are too out of whack with the market average, then the whole financial viability of the project comes into question.

Time will tell.................

There’s a mini tower crane up next to the big tower crane now on millennium Blvd for the 9 6 storie apartment development. I could see it thru the tree line so I don’t know if it’s building the second one or it’s helping finish up the first building

The second crane is for Building #2. They are doing work on the foundation.

They've been doing demolition work on Atlantic Avenue. Property was purchased earlier this year to make way for the 9 floor mixed use building planned for the Main Street corner.

Certainly sounds like it, doesn't it? Looking at the GNB property map, there were several properties along the east side of the street (Atlantic Ave.) sold earlier this year. It's a major project, I hope construction starts this spring.

Demolition work? As in ripping down houses, moving dirt? I am ccurious as I grew up one street over until I was about 10 yrs old.

Houses are gone. FWIW, there are some stakes in the ground where the two former houses used to be, although I think this has more to do with the demolition rather than any upcoming construction. Having said this though, I am pretty confident we will see action on this early next year.

Quite the transformation of this intersection! I expect the Junction development will eventually include something of comparable scale on their corner. I still can't help but think a building of similar concept to 55 Queen would make sense.

They are well along on construction of the first level of the new Codiac RCMP headquarters on Albert Street. Nothing worth taking a picture for, but, worth reporting on.

An excavator is on site at the retail strip adjacent to the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Main Street. Demolition is imminent. Will a Baton Rouge arise from the ashes????

So no renderings does this mean they could be hiding something?
Maybe a couple extra floors above it?

Could be. As long as no variances are required for the construction, then they don't have to present before PAC. We may not see any renderings until things are well underway and Aquillini wants to make an announcement.
