Some colour for the page (from Mayor Dawn Arnold's Facebook page).

Not sure what project you’re referring to, but if it’s the Three Sisters, it’s got it’s own thread with well over 250 posts.

Maybe mods need to put a sticky at the top of the Moncton Thread that is a directory of sub-threads in use.

I doubt you will get any satisfaction.

It was a drive by comment by an infrequent poster from Kamloops, who was likely browsing, and probably noticed the Three Sisters project in the photo at the top of the page. He probably checked the Moncton thread for a few pages, and noticed no comments about this project, and, not realizing we have a whole friggin thread dealing with the topic, decided to lambaste us as a bunch of laggards.

It's all good. No sense getting our backs up over this.

The new 300,000 sq./ft., $700M Atlantic Science Enterprise Centre is expected to break ground in November, 2022 with an expected completion date of 2031.

The building will be home to the following departments;
Environment and Climate Change Canada
Canadian Food Inspection Agency
National Research Council of Canada
Canadian Space Agency (virtual partner)

The new building will staff approximately 700 staff and is anticipated to be 5X the size of the current headquarters.

Which news source is this from? Just wondering.

It is getting close to the time that ASEC would be getting off the ground, so I don't doubt this, but things have been very quiet on this front for almost a year. Nothing has been brought forward recently either to PAC or city council AFAIK.

I saw it on All Atlantic, but I'm not sure if the completion date is for the first or second phase.

Thanks. This is a very expensive project with a long, drawn out construction timeline (not surprising given the complexities of building a major research institution).

It should be noted that in addition to all the agencies listed in tmacdougall's post, the ASEC will of course also house the DFO Gulf Fisheries Centre too.

This building will be the most expensive federal investment in Atlantic Canada since the construction of the Confederation Bridge.

2031 is for completion of the entire project, phase 1 is planned to be finished earlier than that (I think 2025-2026). The "99%" design was recently presented to all staff, I expect they'll start in earnest soon.

Some highlights: 1.5 levels of underground parking, including for all fleet vehicles; geothermal heating; one North Atlantic right whale skeleton.

No need. Dominic has had a whale skeleton in storage for years waiting for this building to be built.

Would anyone know how many stories this is?

It's not that tall. Maybe 6-7 storeys at most (although these would be tall floors).

I have an unofficial render at home. I will dig it up later this evening. This render however is out of date, and there have likely been significant changes. No doubt if they are breaking ground next month, there will be another official announcement, and perhaps they will have updated renders for the media at that point.
