I don't know how I feel about Gillingham being mayor. I have a gut feeling he will end up being a dud and keeping this city exactly where it is, maybe making it worse off. I hope I am wrong.

He seemed like the least big idea candidate of the bunch. We’re going to get another 8 years of bowman like leadership. massive road and police budgets and nothing else to move the city forward. Maybe I’m being pessimistic.

if one thing Winnipeg needs to learn is stop going for the big idea and big mega project and just do small and medium sized projects well which the city has sucked at the past 50 plus years. Gillingham's proposals are modest but achievable I think he is way more detail and results orientated than Bowman and will be a pleasant surprise to many voters.
Poor Winnipeg Fire Fighters who live in Birds Hill, East St. paul, Springfield, Oakbank, Niverville, St. Clements, Stonewall…..all look so sad with Murray’s defeat and his promises!
What a disappointment. Winnipeg does love its wide roads.
It is interesting looking at this result in light of the other municipal elections across the country. Vancouver, Toronto, and Ottawa all elected pretty conservative suburban mayors. It makes me feel a little better that this looks like a trend and not just Winnipeggers shooting themselves in the foot.
The more I read up about him and listen to him speak, the more I see him as a suburban mayor who will keep the status quo. My heart is sinking fast. He is spewing lots of feel-good buzz words right now.
Blame the people who vote AND the people who don't vote. Place the blame on the voters; they are the ones that want the kind of city we have been getting over the last few years.
