Sunny with a high of 20.8 today, my weather station's 141st and probably final 20+ day of the year. It clouded up after supper, and the temp is holding steady around 18 degrees.

I photographed some insects in my garden this afternoon. It's amazing how much you will see if you look closely. I really should dust off my DSLR for this type of thing, these subjects would make amazing pics with a macro lens

Ailanthus webworm moth

Differential grasshopper

Not a grasshopper, but a type of katydid (note the very long antennae)

This is not a bee, but a type of hoverfly

Also not a bee, but a dronefly

None of these are bees!

Yet another type of fly that looks like a bee

This one is a bee

Asian lady beetle

Lady bug

Possibly a yellow wooly bear

The ubiquitous wooly bear

A garden spider (not an insect, of course)

Beautiful pics, flar. Amazing how large the world is to such creatures. Their relatives here might as well be in another galaxy.

Another beautiful day. Wtf is going on It’s been too nice. We’re definitely going to pay for this. The weather astrologists (lol Marty) are predicting a rough one.

Same here in Gatineau. It's nutty.

Back to reality tomorrow. It's gonna freeze.

Tuesday around Vancouver was just nasty.
Gloomy, blustery, chilly and very wet.

The high at Vancouver Harbour was 9 C, the low was 7 C.

If Toronto can avoid freezing on Thursday night (EC has us hitting a low of 2), it looks like Toronto will make it well into November before dipping below zero. TWN has Toronto well above freezing up until November 9th.

The sun came out so I weeded the garden-ish areas and mowed the lawn. This time it’d better be the last of the year I mowed the dogberry leaves into the grass. I assume they’re beneficial?

And then the sun went away.

It's slang for day drinking. Which works for a day off!

*****

I'm so excited for next spring. I wish I could just switch ahead to see what survives the winter, comes back bigger, etc. I also really want that magnolia tree to flower for me at least once, so hopefully it makes it. And the ferns have all grown considerably from planting so hopefully next year the root work is already done and they really take off.

I also get the rest of what I bought on Saturday - including two bare root peonies and a whack of tulip and crocus bulbs.

Now 22C in Moncton at 1 PM, sunny and a humidex of 28.

Absolute insanity.

I wonder if the humidex will reach 30 later this afternoon............

It has since clouded over in Moncton. Things are beginning to fall back. Rain expected later this evening.

Wow, that's warm.

It's about 16C currently in the city, maybe a little more adjusting for the urban heat effect. I was sweating a bit getting a coffee and enjoying the rain in the area, and had to turn on the fan when I got home. I really look forward to this warm weather ending.

Went to go look at a crappy looking rental apartment in East York. At least it backs onto a valley for Taylor Creek. Nice colours to look at on two sides of the property.

Love that staircase. I think one of my urban preferences is for more naturally-landscaped parkland to have very rigid, strong urban infrastructure passing through. I love that so much more than, say, a worn path or wooden steps.

What's the story behind this very natural looking canal?
