Very cool pics, thanks! Those new lights on the front of the Hyatt Regency, do they only show up on the east side of that curved glass? Seems weird that they wouldn't wrap around the entire curved portion.
Yeah, the lights are throwing this off a lot at night, someone can get to the bottom of that right?
I like the CCH in general but the way it doesn't interface with the Salt Palace architecturally is unfortunate. Those blank walls on the north and west really detract from it.

I can't say I'm a fan of the boring walls, but my eyes certainly aren't drawn to them. That glass really captures my attention. But yeah, it would have been nice had they used that brown stone/brick on the side of the CC to integrate it.
Given how much more slowly (and therefore, one would assume more costly) PCT goes, what is the benefit? Also doesn't PTC have a bigger environmental impact than steel?

It can actually go up pretty quick.
I would assume that the concrete is more environmentally sound because it can be sourced much closer to where it is used and it doesn't need to be refined as much as steel.

With Post-Tensioned Concrete, you don't have any beams to deal with, and therefore you can shrink the floor to floor height . With steel, you have to coordinate ductwork and other things to go around the ductwork.
Im digging the new Hyatt building. It makes me wonder though, I'm in Denver this week for work and although I am pretty excited for Astra. We just wont be seeing any 500+ buildings like they have here in Denver in SLC for years to come.

+1 to this. There are some really great Hyatt Regency’s (and Grand and Park Hyatt’s) in the country and the world and I would say that ours matches the best of the best.
Plus the Northern Spanish restaurant has me very intrigued, I’ll definitely be going in the coming weeks to see how it turned out.
The Denver Hyatt CCH broke ground in 2003, so it's basically a design from two decades ago and definitely has a late '90s look to it. Its best feature is still the block-long glass facade along California Street with views into the lobby, restaurants, and nice streetscaping.
The photo Comrade posted is an oldie. That parking lot at the corner in the foreground was replaced in 2017 with a 20-story Le Meridien. Here's a photo of the Le Meridien with the corner of the CCH on the left:
And across the street from the CCH just past the left edge of Comrade's photo is a new 30-story office tower that opened last year. Here's a photo with the CCH reflecting in the new tower's glass facade from a few blocks away:
Yeah, the CCH turned out well. As Comrade said, it's not spectacular, but it actually looks like it belongs in an urban setting.
I actually don't mind the Denver one, but the Portland one just looks like a supersized suburban hotel, and the Phoenix one is one of the worst buildings I've ever seen.
