I still think this mischaracterizes the issue.

The Hurdman curves are a maintenance inconvenience, not a design flaw. The design flaw is in the rail-wheel interface, which is exacerbated by having tight-ish curves.

These are literally streetcars, remember?
Thanks for the clarification. I'm often just half following what's going on.

This tells me the track on the curve needs to be replaced with something that is more compatible with the wheels. I have heard this comment before.

A few days ago at Tunney, the sign shows my bus coming in 27min.
After waiting 27 min, the sign goes to 0min and then to 33min.
So after another 33min my bus is finally there.
A long wait under the sun with no shade.

I'm going to pay more attention to the face of the rail next time I am out. The other day I was looking closely at the rail surface and I swear... It was like.. only the middle third of the track was shiny. I would have expected the entire inner upside down L to be showing wear if that makes sense.

My research was nothing more than a casual glance but it struck me as a peculiar wear pattern. Not that you would want the wheels jammed tight but you would think if they had compatible profiles the wear on the track would be evenly shiny on the top and insides. The lack of overall surface contact may explain why the trains stutter to a stop. It's almost like axle hopping if you've ever had a RWD truck in the snow.

I will document this track wear as I go forward. I will also continue to log this phenomenon of broken glass panels. There are 3 I know of right now.

That pattern sounds normal. In theory, the flange should never touch the rail, so the inside should be untouched. As the top of rail is slightly domed and the wheels are slightly conical, contact should be made in a narrow strip on the inside top of the rail. The stopping performance is almost certainly separate.

I hope they can figure that out ASAP and get them back to full speed. Cyrville to Lees is excruciating.

You mean a train should go faster than people riding bikes on the paths beside it?

Forget biking, I was out for a jog and beat the train from Hurdman to Lees.

Instead of routing the Race Weekend into Gatineau, they should have it parallel the LRT. It is 12.5km, so doing that 4 times should be sufficient. And if you beet the train, you get a special medal.

I was walking in the Hurdman area last week, and that was my observation. The trains were excruciatingly slow running the curve between Tremblay and Hurdman. How can you sell your transit system when your trunk line costing billions is travelling much slower than a car or a bus or even a bike? You can't. This needs to be fixed pronto!

A curious thing happened to my daughter last Friday evening. She was on the train westbound a little after 9pm, and when stopped at Lyon Station, she overheard an announcement on the platform a couple times saying something like "please do not ride your bike beside the train." The train remained stopped for a while and later there was a canned announcement on the train saying that it was delayed due to technical difficulties. She figured the delay was related to the previous announcement, but wasn't sure. The train was delayed by maybe 5-10 minutes (not sure exactly) and then continued on as normal.

My guess is that someone was riding their bike along the platform, but I don't know why that would delay the train that much. Does anyone have any further information?

Regarding the slow trains. I forgot to mention when I posted the leaky ceiling video I checked the trains speed with a GPS app. From St. Laurent to Hurdman the train averaged 25 km/h including the stop at Tremblay. The highest speed I observed was 33 km/h and the lowest was 21/22 aside from stopping and starting.

Going the other way from Hurdman to Cyrville at a later date was nearly identical.

I stumbled across a youtube video of an elevated LRT system build out of lego, and the the livery of the train is clearly the O-Train:

Video Link

I wonder if the creator is from Ottawa, because it looks like they have a lego version of the Talent as well in the background of one of the shots.

Why is the train going so slow from Cyrville to St-Laurent ? Apart from a short curve beside the Cyrville station, that's otherwise a straightforward section.

Eventually, hopefully, they will find the root of the problem and get the trains back up to full speed.
