Yeah unlike condos how it looks impacts the lifetime income of the property. I expect it will be my go to when I have guests for sure. The courtyard will have to up their game and not coast on location alone.

I'm not sure what to make of that panelling. Doesn't seem to be aligned or have even gaps.

At the rate these buildings are going up, the area east of the Market is going to have a skyline (albeit table-top looking) that will equal downtown eventually...

Ottawa's skyline in linear kilometers will be impressive in 10-20 years. A continuous 12 km line from Vanier to Lincoln Fields. Another 1.7 km down Trillium. And a few other crisscross skylines down Carling and Baseline. at about seven and 8 km respectively.

Since I'm a total freak I had to go have a peekypoo for myself.

I'm going to go on a limb and say all these panels still needs to be aligned lol. I figure they get hung on a cam or slot type of rail and then get put into place after the fact. Makes sense to me. Hang all the pieces and then align them.

That being said the material looks like a dogs breakfast. From the sidewalk it seems to resemble Trex decking material but in a slab format. It... um.. sucks. Honestly.

I guess we will wait and see.

They were hung pretty quickly with a crane. Had 2 lanes of Rideau blocked at the time. Workers seemed to quickly hang panel steel cable loops to the building structure and offload the next panel. No time spent fine tuning.

WTF are those panels anyway? This could be the worse bait and switch we've seen in Ottawa.....at least since Icon started installing balcony glass. Maybe they just peel the top layer off and there is nice red brick underneath?

Checked out the AC in Montreal to see if they used something similar, but no. What was used in Montreal looks great:

it probably wont be that bad once all component of the façade are in place! its also only used in that one specific spot. Not the main material being used on 95% of the building

Let's hope so. That last render has the better podium & tower/fin design. And if that's the case, there really isn't much "brick" or red material, so it shouldn't affect the overall look too much. Does anyone have more recent progress pictures?

Those seem to line up with the renders posted on the Reliance website (the construction company)
