Those became a big trend maybe a decade ago and I've always hated them even though it's hard to explain exactly why. I think part of it is that it distracts from the cityscape which is the genre of photography I'm actually interested in. Not just that it distracts, but that it's actually a picture of the person rather than the city with the city just playing a supporting role which means the composition is often quite different than an image intended to feature the cityscape. As a result it seems like a wasted opportunity.
But the other thing is that it just seems so silly and immature. Like, "Hey look at me every body! Isn't this wild?? Aren't I brave?? Look!! "

And I'm like "No. You're breaking the law and risking your personal safety just to ruin a perfectly good cityscape view as part of a lame and over-saturated photography trend"
