We definitely have some interesting articulation on the Carling face of the building.

The balconies are quite large, this is not a Claridge product.

The windows are also quite large. The buildings bones so far pretty good. I guess we'll see what the cladding actually brings. I have more faith than I did earlier.

Shorter tower is topped out. Shes got some moves to her.

This may fare better than we think based on the renders which relegated this building to the background in a sense.

Only 3 more floors to go on the taller one.

I'm really scared to see the cladding going up on that one. It's pretty tall and prominent for the area and the low quality renders we've seen so far seem brutal.

I hope they at least keep the zig-zag balconies.

It looked to me like styrofoam was being attached to the end wall for possibly stucco? That was all I could ascertain passing by on the highway.

Same. It looks to me like sheets of Styrorail to improve the insulation before they CharcWhite it....

Ya I've been watching this stuff go up. They applied some kind of primer to the entire building then applied the foam. Looks like stucco over rigid foam type material. Final colour TBD.....though I think we all know what that will be!

I just drove by on Charcling Avenue. 110% rigid board insulation. No hints of Charcoal paint yet ...

Two floors to go. The balcony pattern is interesting. Who knows what this will look like when all is said and done?

Interesting for sure. Doesn't seem to match the renderings. If we end up getting a building that's better than what was approved, well that would be quite a shocker.

Actually it seems to match the render quite closely. You can see in the render that those balconies at the end are a big crooked or "zig-zag".

The real question is how much glass will there actually be, what will be the colour of the rest of the tower (white, grey or charcoal) and will they keep the wood accents? Here is a better quality render that I found online;

Thanks for posting! Hadn't seen this one. Should provide a pretty cool visual effect on an otherwise fairly basic building.

Oh wow. Yessir that would be the first render I have seen of phase 1. That facade looks very promising indeed.

Thanks OTSKyline!

I can assure you the window openings are massive on the podium... literally the first thing I could think of during my previous walkaround.

This is a legit looking building. The wood and charcoal stone! not brick.. but stone looks very classy. White and silver grey top with heavy glazing ratio should give the tower portion a nice lighter feel compared to a bulkier podium. It's a good transition.

We might see a few high quality projects on Carling alongside Harley's Charchwarts.

Well I already like the tower at Westgate. I don't love it but I don't have any real issue with it. So this little quadrant of redevelopment is getting off to a good start so far. Even the old school rental building is getting a facelift. Fingers crossed they do something nice with it if they are going to bother.

The proposal for the tower at Second Chance Auto next door is showing something similar to SOHO Italia but with orange panels interspersed. That could get interesting.

I wonder when the last part of the original hotel will be demolished?
