Today's departure count: 64

AC released their summer 2023 transoceanic schedule and no surprise YOW is not there: https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/ai...ies-beginning-summer-2023-851845104.html

The 4th daily YYZ-LHR has been restored leaving one remaining LHR slot that has yet to be reinstated. The bad news is no YOW-LHR in summer 2023, but the good news is the stars seem to align for that last LHR slot to be for YOW-LHR once the XLRs start arriving which will hopefully be in time for summer 2024.

Looks like AC838 will be attributed to YVR-FRA according to the Air Canada schedule for summer 2023. Sad as I believe it used to be YOW-FRA.

Sad but not entirely unexpected. I wish BA would jump on this. In that case, it would be more entertaining to watch AC start rushing to reinstate it to be honest.

I just don't see BA ever entering the market with those precious slots at LHR. More likely to see AF at CDG or EI at DUB and I don't even really see that as possible for many many years. I agree with Dominion, likely will have to wait for AC in 2024 to start with the 321XLR and maybe if things go well we will see upgauges in the summer to a 787-8 or a 330.

For sure, one can dream though. Maybe I'm doing too much dreaming but I'm hoping Porter orders longer range aircrafts for European service in the distant future.

A lot of people don't seem to understand that BA is double constrained at LHR. Constrained by the total number of slots and the percentage they can own. They also have (albeit less onerous) constraints at Gatwick.

Also, starting up any route has very high fixed cost. It's often more rewarding on yields to add a second or third fight than start a new route entirely. BA will always be asking if a second rotation to Toronto or Montreal might earn more than Ottawa.

It'll be interesting to see how this goes. Porter does reasonable business on that route, with multiple flights a day between YOW and YQT that only involve a stop (no change of aircraft) at YTZ. Then WestJet and AC both have connections through YYZ, and Porter has some other connecting options through YTZ.

Tuesday and Saturday service with an 06:00 departure from YOW arriving at 08:25 in YQT, and a 09:10 departure from YQT with an arrival back into YOW at 11:25

Exciting. Maybe they’ll announce YOW-YVR at the same time as YYZ.

Cool to see YQT get added. AC and WS have previously served the route.

I'd hope so. If it's a big announcement, at the very least they'll say that they'll expand significantly out of YOW, if not announce actual routes.
