What gets me is why is everybody so interested in butchering the network of streets downtown? It's already a bit of a mess east of Ouellette near the casino because of how they cut off McDougal and Pitt, then Goyeau with the tunnel expansion and the waterpark factory monstrosity and Pitt & Chatham cut off there as well.

The old Plunkett's Bar (more recently known as the Kilt and Fiddle) looks to be undergoing some major renos. Sounds like it's going to be a mixed-use development, with 4 apartments above and some commercial/retail units below. Great to finally see some activity on Chatham St E! Hope the other building (the grey one right next door) gets something done to it as well

Yes! Great to see some life come back to that street, it used to be so busy with nice places to eat. Looking forward to the new Oven 360 full service restaurant open up just down the street where the old Steakhouse used to be.

Another development proposal for the lot located just north of the VIA Rail tracks on Banwell behind the Shoppers drugmart at Banwell and Tecumseh.
The proposals seem to be getting slightly taller with each new one.
Rather generic in my opinion but meh, whatever lol

Good to see higher density projects going up all over the city. I've heard of an upcoming residential proposal for the Seminole area but haven't seen any renders yet.

Density in the Seminole area huh?
Bringing life back to the Ford City area. Time for more residential to aid with the small business buildup. Good to hear!

Also, according to am800, Farhis tower on Riverside got final approval to move forward.
Paired today with his announcement of intending to develop the land next to the new hospital.... in the 500m dollar range?!?!?! Impressive!

Privacy and traffic concerns from nearby residents delays fogolar condo development. Sounds like they want the height reduced and buildings pushed further west closer to Fogolar buildings. Or just ultimately killed..

Such a pain in the backside.
The 20-25 houses that this affects... blah :'(

They've already taken this/them into consideration. Reading through the reports on the city application site, they say the buildings are as far west as they can go. There are no balconies facing east ( directly at the neighbors ) and having the parking, driveway, landscaping trees/shrubs/berm mainly on the east side for those exact reasons.

NIMBYism aaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhh!!!!!!

Amy Grady, another Byng resident, said she attended a public meeting held by the developer earlier this year and left in tears after seeing the proposal.

“We’re going to have people staring at my beautiful 15-year-old daughter going swimming in our pool.”
I'm not sure what more the developer can do besides significantly shrink the buildings, even then. Their concerns that byng will become a traffic nightmare is a bit of a stretch as I've seen Walker rd completely backed up both ways in that area while Byng was relatively quiet, its just not a practical shortcut vs north service rd.

Not to mention, Byng doesn't connect to Walker either.
Turner does, but for Byng, you'd have to go all the way up to the old Cross Canada auto supplies store to get up to the light before the grade separation at the tracks.

Yeah this was super frustrating to see. I'm not sure what other changes can be done, but hopefully it's able to get built. And yeah, the traffic excuse that was mentioned in another reply gets thrown around on almost every development and they always seem to be completely blown out of proportion

Is this all the new plant, or is a larger business/industrial park being developed around it too?

Wow. That's big. Good news! Given the location, seems like there's lots of land surrounding that may be ripe for related or other industries, especially on the other side of Banwell north of the rail corridor. If it's been allocated to that.

There is a servicing master plan for the area surrounding the plant which will include industrial lands, mixed use, future mega hospital and existing airport.
