The Chinese community in Charlottetown is sizable and it was something I wanted to note when I went there last August. Lots of business owners and a growing diaspora.

Current population of the Maritime provinces - 1,999,709

We should hit 2M within the next couple of days, probably tomorrow.

If we were our own country it would be about the same size as Slovenia North Macedonia or Northern Ireland, about 154th by population in the world.

Good luck with the yurt campground.

Also of note, the NB population has surpassed 810,000. It was only back in March that NB cracked 800k. It should only take five years for NB to reach 900,000 and a decade to reach a million, something I never thought I would see in my lifetime.

10,000 in 6 months!? That would be incredible growth. Just wondering how these predictions are measured / predicted? Growing 20k in 12 months would be absolutely phenomenal.

Also, anybody have a prediction on NB city populations as of July 1st? More specifically Moncton? I believe in the last year to July 2021 CMA growth was all. 3,300. I wonder if that number is pushing high and if it’s even possible to hit 4-5k per year?

StatCan has a model that plugs in trends for births/death, inter/intraprovincial migration, things of that nature. It gets updated quarterly IIRC.

3rd quarter population numbers are out for July 1st.

The population clock has been updated and now reads as follows as of 11:15am Atlantic:

Newfoundland and Labrador 527,779

Prince Edward Island 172,354

Nova Scotia 1,027,618

New Brunswick 818,004

Solid growth. I never thought I'd see the day when New Brunswick had numbers like this.

It's probably too much to hope for, but if we keep that pace for another 9 years or so, we'll be past the 7 digit mark.

1M by 2030 could very well be a stretch goal for Provincial Growth Targets.

Here's a map of the Greater Fredericton, Moncton. And Saint John areas. I'd love to know the total population of this region. It's likely well over 400k. As these population centers continue to expand, it makes me wonder if they will fully merge into one another in my lifetime.

Fredericton will be an island for the foreseeable future. Base Gagetown, and the long nothingness enroute to Moncton is not conducive to future growth. You can however clearly see Moncton and Saint John reaching for one another, and there are plenty of towns between the two that have potential to grow. If Sussex were to boom (for whatever reason) there would be a sister city complex between Moncton and SJ, but can't see Freddy really getting in on the fun unless there was massive and unprecedented growth in.... Fredericton Junction to Welsford?
