I hope this doesn't come off as insensitive but I don't see the need to rename (or name everything new in the city) something Algonquin. I understand the past and the history of the region but simply just giving everything an Algonquin name doesn't necessarily change the past or undo what was done.

Unless I'm wrong, this also seems to be something much more prominent in Ottawa. I don't recall seeing parks, roads and plazas in Montreal or Toronto renamed in these aboriginal names. Maybe because of the government and Ottawa's culture of being ultra-reserved, police and trying to be politically correct...
