It hasn't been mentioned here before and none of the recent photos show it very well, but I am somewhat bothered by how the fifth tower is not aligned to either Kingsway or the first tower. It is especially jarring when heading eastbound on Kingsway and you see that the tower (not the podium) is slightly rotated. It is weird and different from all the other towers, and I can only guess they were trying to make it better align with the fourth tower, but I am not sure.

Check it out next time you are driving Kingsway and you cannot unsee it.

It is also very unfortunate how the last two towers in this complex force McKay Avenue to "bend" in front of the towers, making for some narrow and awkward road lanes, ripe for collisions.

The JJ Bean is now open, I haven't gone inside but the interior looks very fresh and different from a typical coffee shop. A nice addition.

Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba restraunt just opened with customers lining up which was mentioned on the station square metrotown news website BurnabyNow.com. The earliest they started to have these signs up was late February 2022.

I saw the videos of the lineups today. For a 6th location, It's crazy that people are lining up for it. That little stretch there is really nice and is always bustling.

Tower 5 window washing crane was out and in use yesterday. They had it fully extended across the terraces and it is massive. Very noticeable from afar when in use, that's for sure.

also I have to say the Tower 5 podium is looking very nice. Just wish the sandstone side was facing Silver Drive because it would give it a warmer feel to offset all the glass and metal.

Station Square (Metrotown) finally has the fifth tower fences removed. Its just very close to having the inside finally compeleted.

The giant scissors makes for better art than the sculpture

The 50-ft piece sits on the high-traffic intersection of Kingsway and McKay Avenue, where Coupland himself, Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley, and city councillors were on hand to unveil the installation earlier this week.

The art installation is named Fordite and includes four separate pieces. The tallest one, which is 50 ft tall, looks almost like a totem pole, except consisting of various multi-coloured pieces that look like oddly-shaped marbles. Coupland designed it to look akin to the gemstone-like material that’s created when automotive paint slag is built up and hardened, a material called fordite.

I hope they get some really good retail tenants for that Kingsway side of the podium.

And yes, the sandstone finish for the western side units is really really nice.
I wish there was more of it in other parts and sides of the podium.

A pleasantly unexpected departure from the usual and typical all-glazed, metal frame retail cladding that you normally get as a standard.

This project came together really well.
They've come a long way from the old 'Cave-On Foods' days.

From the description I thought this art installation would be along the lines of that totem thing at Amazing Brentwood. In reality this is actually pretty decent.

yeah, I though it looked pretty decent when I drove past the other day, colourful at least.

On the west side, I really like the retail spaces, they have a very high-end look to them, I know something like Gucci would never open up there but it would slot in nicely to one of the spaces.

but will most likely end up having the windows covered in wraps and housing dentists or nail salons. Such a waste of great-looking retail spaces.

So far there's only one medical (connected to one of the older towers) and one dental office - and no nail salons. The latest info (from the leasing site plan) shows the CRUs along McKay and Kingsway as available.

Those 'alien rock' totem pole structures are colourful, and IMHO, interesting and good street art. Overall, this project has a real "city" quality to it, and has given the streets
a spiffier, cleaner, smarter overall look and feel, but it needs to be a bit more inviting. Restaurants and retail with crafted entrances and outdoor seating
would do it, if this is possible.

wow, this photo reminds me so much of Olympic Village. the streets, and overall "vibe" of the place.

i like the addition of pedestrian level lighting as well as those ones on the wires having over the road.
