Lost power in mid town Moncton at 11pm. Big flash and a few buzzes and all was dark but only my street it appears. Power restored by 1am. Then lost it the same way at 2. Wind howling outside now and some candles going.

Moncton is reportedly having sustained wind speeds up to 50 km/hr., but will decrease from here on. Where do you get your power from?

About 6k homes without power in Moncton I think. But mostly localized pockets as I see scattered lights a few streets over. Probably downed trees. The grid outside the city is a bit more confusing. Wind was stronger last night but still not as bad as I thought it’d be, for sure. We got off easy here.

Edit: 12k in Moncton, 45k in province. A lot better than NS and PEI which took direct hits.

I am watching a CBC report from Halifax, showing trees down & power out of course. They say about half to three quarters of NS's population is without power. Also outages in PEI, NB, & western NL.

CTV Halifax has started broadcasting at 6am and will have non stop coverage. Basically there must over one million people without power.

376,000 customers (not people) out of power in NS. Unofficially the storm is the lowest atmospheric pressure system 933 mb., ever to make landfall in Canada.

Further west (Fredericton) is just starting to get wet but has been windy all night. No major outages around the city.

I was most worried for coastal communities during high tide on the east coast of NB, but most of them seemed to escape this far with minimal water issues.

Some intrepid reporting this morning from Mark Robinson on TWN.

As Jessie Uppal is asking him to describe what it feels like to be subjected
to the full fury of mother nature's wrath he struggles to speak, catch his
breath and just keep on his feet.

Then he finally just gets blown off screen.

"Mark... Mark... okay, we lost Mark. Stay safe Mark."

Why are so many people driving around while the storm is still raging?

Decent interview in French by the mayor of Charlottetown BTW.

Multi-Story above the tree line. I did lose the top half of one tree just outside and below my bedroom window. Power is still off and judging by how most of NS is as well this could be a long, dark couple of nights.

I'm heading for a walk soon. See how bad the North-End Halifax looks.

Welcome to Atlantic Canada.

Not sure what things are like in Nova Scotia today, but portions of Port Aux Basques NL are being evacuated due to storm surge. There are already several houses which have been swept into the ocean. Really not good.

There is also an unconfirmed report (albeit it's from someone who I wont name but is usually correct; they're a former politician) that there is at least one fatality in Port aux Basques.

PAB is fucked. Also lots of damage in Burnt Islands and at least some in Burgeo. Haven’t heard a peep from SPM.

I feel guilty how nice it is here today. 23C at my place. Gusty but nothing too bad. There is an unusual haze in the air.

This is the wildest video I've seen yet. Moment of impact that completely takes two houses off their foundation + washes an SUV away like it was someone's trash bin.

I won’t be too communicative for a while ( no power, and restoration is not expected until tomorrow evening). I’ve done a walk around on my property and no structural damage and no trees are Down, it there are small branches and shredded leaves everywhere. The house is getting cold, and I’m bored, but it could be worse here
