The Co-operative Building owned by Agropur on Assumption Boulevard has been sold to the owners of 'The Three Sisters' development.

They are exploring another major development across the street.

Really! This is exciting. This is directly across from the Three Sisters on the south side of Assumption. Another major residential project here would complement the Three Sisters really well. One concern I've always had with the Three Sisters is that it seems isolated from the remainder of the downtown by the surrounding ocean of surface parking. The solution for this would be to build additional density in the immediate neighbourhood.

Another vote of confidence by Lafford. If he's planning something here already, this means he remains very confident in the Three Sisters project. I was already optimistic that the second sister was going to be built anyway. Now I am increasingly confident that the third sister will be built on schedule as well.

I hope whatever Lafford has planned across the street on Asumption will be of a similar stature (12-18 storeys, possibly 20).

If the residential market in Moncton remains this strong, we're in for a wild ride. I was talking to someone a few days ago who has a friend that works at the Moncton city hall. He was told that the projects that haven't gone public yet would absolutely blow your mind. I hope the market stays strong and we can see some of these major projects come to fruition.

I wonder what happened to Ashford's "imminent" reveal that some people hinted at several months ago. Maybe they've pushed it back until after the infrastructure improvements are completed.

Without really knowing the area, geology might be a factor. A heavy, large building may not be viable on an infilled riverbank. But geotechnical studies are pennies to something like Lafford so I presume they already did one.

Ashford is more methodical than Lafford it would seem, and, Ashford's plans are more intimately tied to the overall revisioning that the city has for the Assumption/Downing Street lands. I really don't expect to see any renderings or plans released for another year or so. Sooner would be fantastic, but I am trying to be realistic.

I think Ashford has a timeline all mapped out. They have the building on Highfield progressing nicely, and the project on Lorentz is now started.

This will keep them busy while the Assomption parking lot property is prepared for phase one of their major development.

There's a lot of work that has to happen before they can start construction on their land south of Main Street. Exciting times ahead!

Retail Talk & Share has picked up on tmacdougall's post above and have posted about it over there. A comment was made by someone claiming to be a worker on the Three Sister's site, and he claimed to have heard that Lafford has a 20 storey tower planned.

I wonder if Lafford could use some of the property to allow for the relocation of the NB Power Transmission Station. There would still be lots of room to build a nice urban building. I know I keep going on about this relocation, but I just feel like it would make such a difference in how the final project looked.

On another separate note, I would love to see Thrive build some buildings downtown. They have a history of quality projects around greater Moncton, but they haven’t typically been located in an already urbanized area.

Building was torn down on Rabbi Lippa Medjuck st. The building had a for sale sign on for quite some time. Pretty good location with a big lot.

I agree that NB Power sub station has to go. It would open up the whole southern portion of the land, right over to the corner of Lutz Street. I doubt it will be relocated to the property Lafford just purchased though.

PAOL shows no recent sale, but, they are often a month or so late in posting recent transactions.

Can a single tower crane reach that high from the ground?

You might be thinking the same thing I did. It’s not the Cooperative building Next to the three sisters, it’s on the opposite side of Assumption Blvrd, it’s the oddly out of place industrial building.

corner of Collishaw and Vaughan Harvey, where the coop gas bar once was located is now being fenced up. Note not construction fencing, but high-quality fencing. My guess is that they are preparing to sell, but only to the right buyer.

Is the Co-op dairy on the land that Lafford purchased still functioning, or did it close?

Pretty sure it was inactive.
