Bitter sweet for me.

An customer of mine had a lovely old house on Armstrong that was right down the middle of this block. His renovations were so tasteful. Shame to see it go but that's life in the city I suppose. That block were mostly underused and underdeveloped properties though. By that I mean just kind of hodgepodge, cobbled together, repurposed and added onto multiple times etc.

I was quite familiar with all the neighbors layouts (residential and commercial)

Yeah, the side of that house has some serious rot and has seen better days. At least they can open those windows for the first time in half a century.

They threw a little bit of paint at the side of the white house. I guess they couldn't evict the tenants of this house, and the building behind, in time for the initial demolition?

That is indeed a peculiar move. The poor house also looks like its vomiting termites. This thing needs to be brought out behind the woodshed.

Which to me is very much a good things when it comes to infill housing.

Less interference from nimbys (like the councilor) blocking much needed housing be it market rate, subsidized or social housing.

Yep, definitely a good thing in reference to infill housing, and long overdue. Not as good on the greenfield side.

Two shovels arrived on site today.

Pretty sure they still need to demolish the rest of the block before starting excavation.
