It is a great new space. Was down there with the kids yesterday and in addition to my little ones running up and down the stairs, climbing misc. structures, many other kids were too. A few toddlers on trikes rolling around too. Great to see

The lettering on RISE AGAIN really bothered me as well

Here are some photos of how Tidal Beacon will look. I've been told there will be stairs inside of it to walk up into it. And an elevator for those who need it. The bottom photos are just of the scale mockup, the final product should look much nicer.

I will be so happy if there's an elevator! I really hate those stairs, even if, with VERY careful assistance, I'd be able to get up to the top in my wheelchair.

I recently stayed in the hotel and had a chance to explore the building and surroundings. I was very impressed. Meticulous and well thought out design, with a very high level of service. The building is beautiful and solid. Lots of great amenities on site. I don't understand the details but apparently a "sea water loop" is used to heat/cool the premises.

Spectacular development in a great location!

From my understanding the cold sea water from the harbour is pumped into heat exchangers inside the top of the building that cool the building's cooling water. This same system is used at Purdy's Wharf where I've been told it saves over $1 million in cooling costs per year, and that was over 10 years ago when I first heard that stat.

Many large ships cool their engines the same way.

Thanks for the video, Q12!! What they did with the public space for this building is beyond impressive in my opinion (plus, my dining experiences at the new restaurants there have been spectacular!)

Well, I don't know about this.

During daylight hours it looks like something under repair with scaffolding surrounding it. Not particularly attractive or impressive. At night the light effects are... interesting I guess, but if I was a resident of one of the units facing the water I think the light effects would drive me crazy. Do they go on throughout the overnight?

It glows gently most of the time, apparently - light show at high and low tides.

I was hopeful for this... and I like the video... I don't even mind the scaffoldy effect during the day: for me, it somehow relates to the history of a working waterfront. I'll reserve final judgment until I see the light show in person, but I've moved from hopeful to excited.
