Thank you for this. It gives me the chance to say that I have written posts promoting tunnels, including Brentwood, and usually get a cool, damps response, if any.
People here don't seem to cotton to the idea of tunnels. Maybe it's the price. But I think the cost would prove worth it over time, and prove itself. (For me, there are several places and streets
I would love to see a system of associated tunnels, but that's another thread.) IMHO, the need for and viability of tunnels will make itself more apparent, everywhere.

Hudson’s Bay sues Metrotown developer, owner over highrise construction in Burnaby

Hudson’s Bay Company filed for an injunction against the owner and developers of Metropolis at Metrotown to stop the construction of the three-tower development underway.

Those parking meters are installed illegally. You all can park there for free. Same to parking meters on 4400 block of Juneau Street.

I don't see any parking bays in those photos, so are they shrinking Lougheed Highway to a single eastbound lane outside of rush hour?!?! Pure madness. Burnaby does the worst traffic planning in all of Metro Vancouver.

It will be same as on 4400 block by Solo District (adjacent to Whole Foods store). 3 lanes eastbound. 2 driving lanes and curb lane for parking meters. They also put up signs for rush hour. No stopping 3-6 PM Monday to Friday.
Actual meters are not there yet, only poles are installed (they covered with COB orange traffic cones), meters will go up once development is fully completed.

Not only bad planing. Those meters are outside of metered zone that is regulated by BURNABY PARKING METER AND ELECTRIC
VEHICLE CHARGING METER BYLAW 2019.

You can see on the map from the above bylaw that meter zone on Lougheed ends east of Beta Avenue. So in future unless bylaw is amended you can park there all day long for free and if you get a ticket simply dispute it online and state a reason why. It will get swiftly canceled.

Lougheed Highway should be 3 lanes each direction all the time, with no stopping anytime. its just dangerous to allow parking there.

It is the same set up as on Marine Drive in Vancouver though.

All the Town Centre standard docs mention 6 lane roads with a parking lane so it's no big surprise.

realistically, all arterials need to be no stopping anytime. OR no stopping 6am-8pm + no parking anytime.

street parking such a waste of road space. its a terrible use of arterials. you would eliminate so much traffic if you stopped the parking, and stopped the left turns at every. single. side-street. those 2 things are a major contributor to traffic in the region.
