Movati closed both London locations, putting 100 out of work.

Dammit. I have had a movati membership since 2005.

Interesting story about a Ottawa condo project that was just cancelled due to new economic realities. I suspect we will see similar decisions being made in London and may even include rentals. The shortage of high rise construction workers may be ending soon as projects wrap up and no new projects get started.

If they haven't already done so many storefront businesses downtown should install steel shutters to protect their windows and doorways from breakins. HiRez night vision security cameras are also a very good idea and taking these measures might help in keeping their insurance costs from increasing beyond sustainability.

In other words, the developer can't sell the units for the high price they had hoped for.

The city should create a new fund for the police that is strictly for foot patrols in the Core. This way these issues can hopefully be avoided and when there is an incident there is immediate response and not waiting hours for the police to show up. The same thing should be done in Old East.

The city can spend all it wants on downtown improvements but it will mean nothing if people are afraid to go there and businesses have to leave because of it. Dundas Place exemplifies this beautifully.

great idea. Hopefully the police won't instead waste time and money with some worthless 'task force'.

I noticed the Sold sign up on the old factory building at 455 Highbury Ave N. on the SW corner of Highbury and Bridges. Looks like the zoning application is to turn it into yet another self storage location.

I wonder what the vacancy rate is for Farhi buildings. A lot of them appear completely empty or nearly so. How can he afford the upkeep without rental income?

Yeah that is ugly. I feel that would be a nice place for a trades type business.

If this building was literally anywhere else I'd be pretty upset, but Highbury is London's ass crack.

Wellington sucks. Oxford sucks. Adelaide sucks. Hyde Park sucks. They all suck.

But none of them suck like Highbury.
