I’m surprised the PLQ are even at 17% to be honest. And that’s quite the numbers for Duhaime’s party.

Mainstreet are not the best pollster for Quebec.

Among other things they overestimate the PCQ and PLQ, and underestimate the CAQ.

I would be curious about the regional breakdown in Quebec. Those numbers writ large mean the CAQ walks away with it all due to vote splits.

PLQ will always have its base as they are considered the only option by most minorities in Québec.

Separatists have other options beyond the PQ: they can veer QS, or eventually the CAQ as everyone expects they'll raise la question nationale at whatever time they it becomes expedient.

PCQ support is similar to Federal Tories strongest in Quebec City. They do have 60000 members now and the most people donating in Quebec at over 9000 donations. Their opportunity i think is covid-19 rage obviously and possibly disaffected Liberals Anglo voters who have been taken for granted by the Liberals during that most recent language law battles.

Yep, the PLQ tried to pull a CAQ and be all things to all people, meanwhile the CAQ is analogous to the UCP in Alberta. Their tent encompasses a collection of opposing, but mostly majority viewpoints. It looks like the only thing that could take them down in short order would be a Jason Kenney situation.

The PQ died with its true philosophical father, Jolly Jacques. Parizeau, unlike Levesque and Bouchard (and Legault), never wavered.

But like the RIN that preceded it, one day there will be another sovereigntist party that will attract considerable support. Not enough to bring about the "winning conditions" but enough to be a major irritant.

Love him or hate him, François Legault is about a million times more sophisticated a politician than Jason Kenney is.

Legault is also a shrewd businessman, and before he was 40 he came into enough money that he didn't even have to work to enjoy a lavish lifestyle.

Legault isn't as dumb as Kenney, that's for sure. They are analogous as coalitionist leaders who are at the same time divisive in and outside of their provinces, and hell-bent on provincial economic growth at almost any cost.

I see further success for the CAQ until either an inevitable corruption scandal arises or worse, Legault is photographed wearing a hijab at a vegetarian pea soup-eating competition.

I see more Legault as a more cartesian Doug Ford. They both are common sense types of guys, and wants to be liked and do the right thing.

Obviously they are higher in some areas than others, but the CAQ's support has actually spread out even more across the entirety of Quebec.

They are poised to take Hull from the Liberals here in my region, where they already broke the Liberal stranglehold in 2018 by taking 3 of 5 seats. Though they won't take Pontiac which has a higher percentage of anglos than the other ridings.

If the momentum keeps up they might also take a number of ridings on Montreal island, including some on the western half of the island where percentages of francophones are higher. There is even an outside chance that they could take St-Henri-Ste-Anne which is Liberal leader Dominique Anglade's seat.

Apparently and surprisingly the PCQ is attracting some attention from anglo voters who aren't too interested in the two (yes, two!) new anglo protest parties that have sprouted up. I think that's probably because the PCQ at least have some francophone support so it makes it a more serious option for savvy anglos, whereas the two anglo parties will have next to zero francophone support so no chance of doing anything whatsoever.

As for the PLQ, well as has been said they got badly burned by trying to be all things to all people: first trying to be nationalistic and pro-French, and then backtracking rather clumsily when francophones didn't believe them and anglophones got angry at them for flirting with the devil.

My bet is that many anglophone voters will simply stay home on election day.

When you start to feel like the Natural Governing Party, scandals are inevitable. It takes viable competition (i.e. the threat of getting replaced) to keep politicians honest.

There’s already been issues:

Duhaime seems to be getting Poilievre size crowds the past week 1300 in Quebec and 1400 in Beauceville on the weekend:

An opinion that is purely based on ignorance, i.e., never having set foot in Quebec (or Nunavut).

Quebec is my favorite province but I am a 'native son' (even if some of the mainstream doesn't see me in that fashion).

BC is my second favorite province.

British Columbia is the province where a random bungalow sells for the price of a decent house in Beverly Hills or in the affluent suburbs of Paris, but they still like it somehow...

Ok, landscapes of the countryside out there may be pretty, but frankly, their real estate standards are a mere scam.
Who would pay something like $1.5 million for a 80m² bungalow in a suburb of Vancouver?
That makes no sense.
