I want to see what is happening in the country...not just towers in Toronto....the Toronto posters don't even identify it as Toronto most of the time...you have to search the renderings to find the CN Tower....like this is a Toronto only thread.

please everyone else...post your city's work here....
If one of those 70 story towers were going up in any other city across the country people would find it interesting. The fact that there's a lot does make any individual one less notable but the overall collection is still pretty exciting imo. I love being able to scroll through and see the vast wealth of construction.

That being said, I don't really have a strong opinion on the layout of the forum. I do worry that if all the Toronto developments were all banished to the Toronto subsection I worry that it would be a lot quieter. Maldive does a great job keeping it updated but it does seem pretty quiet in terms of the audience.

There's probably more construction happening between Guelph Line & the 427 than there is between Paris Street (Sudbury) & McGrath Road (Chilliwack.)

Mississauga feels like a boomtown compared to Edmonton for example, from a city building/construction pov.

I always enjoy Toronto proposals, this page has always been my go-to for seeing national progress. This is Canadian City proposals after all, so I don't understand why anyone would want to limit one city.

As for other non-Toronto proposals, Saskatoon released Conceptual renderings for its entertainment district. This will change and refine over time but its a interesting design on what could be there.

Two sites are proposed with Option A South (Midtown Parking lot), and Option B North (City Yards)

Option A

Option B

I know this is a concept, but this is wild for a place like Saskatoon. There's so much going on here:

- what looks like an NHL-sized arena
- 30 storey buildings (new tallest for Saskatchewan?)
- BRT
- A Toronto-sized performing arts centre

Yeah it looks like a very "big city" district.

That part of Vancouver is really underdeveloped. There are houses in Kits Point, I guess maybe in detached housing only zoning (or duplex with laneway house plus underground bunker or whatever) that are about a 40 minute walk to office towers in the middle of the city or a short walk from the beach nearby (while probably paying fairly low property taxes for 0.1%er housing that an oligarch might buy). Then there are 60+ storey towers going up in suburban areas where most people will take long transit trips to work. The public space in Kits is also used in a way that suggests the land values are much lower than they are.

Not sure what to think of the development. I don't tend to like those larger master planned developments and these designs look sterile and sculptural. But they'll mix things up in the area.

One issue around there is that the beaches and public space are north facing so tall towers nearby can have a lot of shadow impact. But this doesn't require a 1 km buffer of detached houses and walk-ups. The West End side and North Van are better situated, while Coal Harbour has the same issue.

It’s perfectly appropriate to post as many new proposals as there are out there. Maybe Maldive could curate a little more though. For exemple, in a period of such abundance of new proposals from Toronto, is it really necessary to post older renders already posted like Forma just to announces a rumor about the sales ? Just sayin’

Fabulous renderings but, stadiums and arenas are dead zones when not in use and there won't be an NHL team packing a 15,000 seat stadium, 4 hours a day, 40 days a year.. I don't really buy into stadium districts. There are great neighbourhoods built around stadiums that are great in spite of the stadiums. I see it as nothing more than a sales pitch to the public to approve of the huge investment with immediate 75% depreciation on the asset once doors open.

Plan A looks to be in the centre of it all with hotels flanking either side and a giant mall across the street. Plan B looks like its on the fringes. Plan A is the obvious choice but, PLan B looks like it has better redevelopment potential to create that stadium neighbourhood in spite of the stadium.

This isn't the flashiest tower but I'm liking it more than the original renderings. Arris is the tallest in East Village and the second condo tower on top of the retail base which includes a Superstore.

I find it helps to remind what the proposal is. Must but not all of us are familiar with names of the larger projects.

That Saskatoon plan looks great!

urbantoronto.ca posted a few more renders of 77 Erskine yesterday with details about the project. Such a class building if it turns out like the renders then it will look like it has been there since the 60's. Unlike that beast to the left of it.

Status: Pre-Construction
Number of Buildings: 1
Height: 390 ft / 118.95 m

Sorry if one or more of these waas already posted.

That's actually quite nice. Contrasts well with the brick and concrete buildings to the right and the Vancouver-esque towers to the left. What's the screened portion behind the Loblaws? Parking garage?

I think it's a loading area / base of the first condo tower.

Really Martin? With the blanket of Montreal photos and no complaints, I should curate? (oops... that might be mistaken as a complaint..)

Here's some more new stuff... some with only one render

56 Fieldway | 120.12m | 35s | Ellis Don | TACT Architecture l pre-construction

The well-known construction giant Ellis Don from London, Ontario has taken over as sole developer of this big project (their first). Ellis Don has previously worked in a joint-venture role as co-developer, but this one is all theirs.

Almost a million square feet with 1150 residential units. Located south-east on Kipling and Bloor. Condo, institutional and office. 35, 32, 22 and 10 storey mixed-use buildings
.

UT

UT

UT

536 St. Clair W l 116m l 35s l Diamond l IBI l pre-construction

A few squiggles of interest from IBI on this residential and retail proposal. This block is getting rather tall and dense west of the Yonge and St. Clair cluster (undergoing a huge trasformation).

Northern Light

775 Vaughan Road l ?m l 36s l 2857802 Ontario Inc l Studio JCI l pre-construction

No tower shots unfortunately but tres classy flat-ironish podium. Retail and 483 residentials units (including 14 afforable units) replacing half a dozen 2 storey “dumps”.

Northern Light

2039 Yonge | 43.54m | 11s | Nivlog Investments Limited | superkül l pre-construction

A re-design from the site-plan application documents submitted. Quite a handsome little mid-rise. Rental, retail and townhouse.

Northern Light

429 Walmer Road l 76m l 19s l Stafford Homes l IBI Group l pre-construction

IBI gettin’ curvey here but don’t think I like it. Feeling like its akin to a 1980’s take on a future town in a sci-fi movie. Mixed-use.

Northern Light

Very similar to Ryerson's School of Management at the Eaton Centre.

Similar colour palette. The Bow College building is more straightforward and so much nicer

I also really like what they did to renovate the adjacent brutalist building:

Nice to see a repurposing and not a tear down for once.

Every new Toronto proposal should be in my newly created Toronto Proposals thread in the Toronto section.
It has over 100 views in just 48 hours! Which tells you when people want to see Toronto proposals they go to the Toronto Proposals thread.
