Sounds like retail space for which they could not find a tenant, now being leased as office space.
Exactly what is happening.

Yeah, the application plans from way back show the Hamilton St. side as Level 1, the Homer St. side as Level 2.
City Market would be on Level 3, and that cross-sectional rendering from a while back showed a gym on Level 4.

I would guess that's the case. They also haven't opened at Brentwood yet.

Thanks.
Nice to see that they've re-installed vertical slats on most of the vent openings next to the blade signs.

take it for what it's worth, but some BC hydro buddy of mine said that this building will be BC Hydro's largest customer/account.

Given the sheer size of it, that wouldn't be surprising.

I wonder what the other large ones are and how they stack up.

Giant datacenter and tons of EV charging maybe?

he also said robotics but I don't know if that is taking much juice

I was expecting a mine or factory to be the largest. Metrotown perhaps or Seaspan

It's supposed to be Vancouver's biggest ever office project.

Maybe industrial projects have their own generation plants burning natural gas?
Some pulp mills have cogeneration plants using waste steam.

Article about BC Place

Quote:
From November 2008 through February 2009, B.C. Place used 1.71 million kilowatt-hours (or an average 56,456 kWh a day) of power for a cost of $389,839.19. For the same period in 2011 and 2012, it used 1.9 million kWh or an average 68,114 kWh a day at a cost of $556,187.09. Seems like pulp and paper mills are the largest customers. Interesting that coastal wood is 50% water so a lot of energy is just to get rid of the water before they can burn off the biomass. As high as 80% in the winter.

Now let's see if The Post can figure out how to get some stairs built. I have faith.

All those stairs should produce a decent annual body count. It will be like walking off a cliff for all the Iphone addicts.

That's gotta be a water feature. They look way too small and the bottom looks to have some sort of reservoir.
