As per one of the dump truck drivers, it's for a parking lot. For what I don't know. There is a dentist office at the end of the lot but its never that busy to warrant all this parking. Maybe, maybe not!

Haven’t heard that, but the water utility sent a request to council to supply water to that site (its outside the city, so they’ll have to pay 25% premium on top of the regular rate).

If Amazon is building a warehouse, Costco won't be too far behind.

Amazon was looking at building a fulfilment centre in Nova Scotia, apparently the ability to find enough staff is the only issue. I’d say if anything here is being built related to Amazon, it would be one of their shipping partners (BNI, Intelcom Express, etc). The confederation bridge toll makes PEI impossible to serve as a regional hub for anything that requires vehicle traffic…

The new subdivision by LM school Montgomery Heights.. Our work does a lot of homes in that subdivision. I work inside but if one of the drivers doesn't show up I go and do deliveries for the day. Last week I was making a few deliveries in there and noticed the street names. Shirley, Anne, Gilbert, Cordial, Splendid. Then I had a brain fart that they were all Green Gables names. So I asked a few people at work and they also had no clue. Thought it was kinda funny just thought I would share.

Summerside just announced their new fire hall location and I bet construction will begin in the near future.
Over 5 years ago this article appeared in the Guardian and still no new fire hall in Charlottetown. With an explosion of development in
the north-end of Charlottetown, especially apartment and housing, and we haven't seen anything yet, city hall better get at it!!
I can't wait for municipal elections.

Nothing official been announced, which is odd, but construction of Charlottetown’s new fire station is on hold until at least 2023. Construction was suppose to start this fall. It’s pathetic.

Another project that is way behind schedule, Simmons Sport Centre.
As they said earlier this year, "expect work to begin in the spring and finish sometime in the fall of 2023." Well, here we are moving into fall and nothing has started. Now school is soon to start and busses will be using the Simmons parking lot to transfer students. What a major SNAFU!

50 Belvedere Ave

This was slow to start but here it is already at the 3rd floor.
I'm sure they will try to enclose it before the winter arrives.

Demolition tender went out this week for the pool and arena. The pool is going first, sometime next month. The existing arena will remain in place until the new arena is ready to open. The demolition schedule lists April 2024 for demolition of the arena.

We should see construction start in the next few months. The shell will go up quickly, it's prefabbed, so technically it's under construction right now.

Charlottetown Renos

We have quite a few renos in progress in Charlottetown which I managed to get photos of today. These renos have really made a difference.

First is the building on the corner of Richmond and Pownal St.

Before & After

Second is the wreck of a apartment that has been neglected for some time on the corner of Grafton and Pownal. What a change to this one!

Before & After

Last is the old Catholic Family Services office on Pownal & Grafton which is diagonally across from the one above. Quite a change here too with a deck addition on the back and decking on the front entry which is still in progress.

Before & After

There are more which I hope to post later.

We are going to need really progressive land use plans if we want to save our farmland and make our urban areas livable without a car... We can still hope!

The footings are being installed! Things are moving along. It's hard to get pictures on this one due to it's location.

Calling all urbanists to tell em how you feel in this Charlottetown Plan Review!

https://upland.mysocialpinpoint.ca/charlottetown-plan-review#/

Click the "Land Use Map" button first.

Also for comment:

https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/en/inf...-park-concept-development-plan-community

Look at the presentation pdf and then give online feedback. Them then we need to build mixed use walkable places and no single family homes!

I see M&M out in East Royalty is adding on to their building. Are they adding on the furniture store or the flooring part of the business? Also what is going on behind one of the businesses out on Winslow Rd I think McQuaid's buildings.

Haven't heard anything! I did notice the North side of the building facing CH has seen an upgrade. So whether there are sections to be demolished, nothing heard.

To add to what I replied to earlier, they are replacing the windows on the front of the building. Looks like the former econolodge is staying.
