I think it's safe to put daily on both BR and CI. BR is planning to go daily starting this Oct, and CI on next Jan. KE also run daily this and next summer.

NH ran 5x weekly this summer and winter (to NRT) and currently planned daily HND next summer. So safe to put at least 5.

China Southern left SkyTeams since 2019.

AKL is still planned to be winter-seasonal for AC.

And probably over estimate for AC routes to PEK, PVG, ICN... I'll say 0, 2, 7 might be better values. And for Chinese airlines, most likely they'll stay "1" for all of them that still operates to YVR.

I guess DE can be either 4 or 5. They currently have 5th weekly flight planned for YVR next summer.

And yes, as Johnny said, AM is currently 21 for summer and 17 for winter.

[EDIT] Seems like Johnny already mentioned most points in the previous post.

Also, wonder what's considered to be "West Asia" for your table. I don't think YVR have any route to western Asia? The only one I can think of is IST and DEL, but I would consider IST technically be "Europe", and DEL as "South Asia" or maybe part of "Asia Pacific". "West Asia" is more like... Middle East.

Not sure how YVR place them in the passenger stat though, but I don't think they put them in the "Misc International" section.

Thanks guys! I did not intend to put Shanghai and Beijing in as daily, I must have been messing around with it and forgot to put it back. I had Beijing in as 1 and Shanghai in at 2.

Good news about the AM flights, I wasn't aware the frequencies had been restored already. Same with Taiwan and Korean. I've updated and will track that going forward.

Also I've crossed out but not removed Paris, Melbourne, and Taipei in the AC list since I do think they will come back at some point, so I've gone and done the same for the Chinese routes that are suspended not cancelled. If they are still gone for S24 then maybe the get removed.

Here's the updated list:

So the latest update of BR frequency to Canada is reflected on AeroRoutes:

Taipei Taoyuan – Vancouver eff 19SEP22 Increase from 5 to 7 weekly, 787-9/-10 (schedule below effective 01OCT22)
BR010 TPE2355 – 1925YVR 781 246
BR010 TPE2355 – 1925YVR 789 x246

BR009 YVR0200 – 0520+1TPE 781 357
BR009 YVR0200 – 0520+1TPE 789 x357

https://www.aeroroutes.com/eng/220823-brsep22ca

All 7 weekly flights will be switch to 787-10 by the start of winter schedule.

So by Jan 2, 2023, BR will restore capacity to Canada to pretty much pre-pandemic level. So the question is, are there any further demand for traffic between Taiwan and Canada? If there is, then they'll need AC's help because BR already sending their biggest plane to both YVR and YYZ for all 14x weekly flights.

When all 3 were operating, AC won on LF %, and was second place in passenger carried. No idea about yield though... But shouldn't be too bad if the LF was 98-99% during peak months, and 90-92% during off-peak. Unless you say the 8% empty seat were all in the front section...

But if AC is going to start TPE again, I'd think it will be reciprocal codeshare with BR...

Yes or keep it close as long as possible because China wants to have their major airlines flying most International flights to/from there & have limited foreign airlines competition.

Either way both foreign and domestic airlines there have significantly fewer international flights, I never thought a day would come when China would be so closed off and there would be so few flights even from a city like Vancouver.

It looks like (BA) British Airways Summer 2023 planning to add London Gatwick LGW UK - Vancouver YVR route & up to 6x weekly & operated by the Boeing 777.

BA 2279 12:00 PM Gatwick Airport (LGW)- 1:35 PM (YVR)
BA 2278 3:25 PM (YVR) - 8:40 AM+1 Gatwick Airport (LGW)

Also wonder (if) were going to see some cut backs of frequencies on WestJet YVR- LGW flight route next Summer operated by the WS 787?

Hmm that's too bad, probably spells the end of the A380 service to YVR, can't imagine they'd go 2x daily with a 380 and 772. My guess will be 1 A35X from LHR and 1 772 from LGW.

A380 service like the 744 is on borrowed time anyway… inevitable they will be gone soon enough

That’s pretty impressive for BA to have that confidence in YVR to add a 6 weekly flight on LON-YVR regardless. Instead of going back in to YYC, adding more to YVR.

Looks like a big jump in overall capacity.

^ I believe YVR was double daily to LHR in peak summer before the A380 came around. So if the A380 is taken off the YVR-LHR route, going 13x weekly to LHR/LGW is a downgrade from times past.

It’s a sign BA is having a hard time competing with AC and WS on YVR-LON.

Air India needs to take as much advantage as possible with the Russia airspace closure. They could be making a lot.

With Russian airspace closing, what route would AI take for a YVR - DEL flight?
