Sorry, I accidentally quoted the wrong person. I fixed it though!

I have seen it personally. There is nothing even close to that tower anywhere near it. Guess that's why is "outside the central business district" Did you quote the right person?

That's really sort of the uniqueness of the Williams Tower. The next tallest nearby is San Felipe Plaza, which is 625 feet tall. That's no slouch, and would be the tallest in at least two major cities in Texas.

Couldn't agree more.

Sleep Paralysis Shadow People don't feel the heat. Or cold. They just feel the fear in your soul.

My thought exactly!

True. But, in all fairness, the viewpoint of this rendering is facing Northwest. The prevailing winds in the summer come from the south/southeast. The entire section behind the viewpoint of this rendering could be open to the "breeze."

It’s so cool to see Austin in this group thread of supertalls!

LOL...Williams Tower is right in the city in a very urban area (Uptown).

Crazy how there is already gossip in the local forum about another Austin tower in the works that could end up being taller than 98 Red River! So this tower may not last for too long as the tallest in Austin, let alone Texas.

It's nice to finally see some construction in sleepy old Austin

Hi-OOOOO!

I like what you just did there.

[Zapatan]

Is it true that this won't be completed until 2027? If so, why will it take so long?

That date came from a sign posted by the site in 2021 regarding access to a city trail through the site. The street mentioned has since been removed for construction of this project.

The developers haven't provided too many public details about this project and didn't have a publicized ground breaking. But that's not unusual for project that doesn't include for sale condos. Instead they are apparently planning some type of ceremony in September. Maybe they will provide more info at that time. This project also has a Phase II tower planned, and I'm hoping for info about that one.
