They did a decent job on the Halifax property, and Winnipeg is supposed to be even better.

Noticed the fountain in Bonnycastle Park has finally been repaired. The one on Broadway at Donald has been intermittently running as well. I think having these kind of features in good working order plays well to the overall attractiveness and livability of the downtown

^ Agreed, those kinds of details matter. Unfortunately the city does not do a good job of park maintenance or minor improvements.

thanks for the additional info with that downtown revitalization strategy! glad they're prioritizing some of these smaller details that truly matter more than some of the flashy stuff in the grand scheme of things. the focus can't come soon enough for broadway either. you really notice how shabby and crumbling it's gotten since there's barely any workers queueing up at the food trucks and lounging around like there used to be..... and all the decimated elm trees

This is a great document overall, IMO. I love the fact that it specifically targets a number of areas of concern, and admits some of the problems facing those areas. Nice to see some budget numbers too, in terms of what has been approved and what still needs to be raised.

One question though, in the Market lands section they state: "The Downtown Recovery Strategy will support the final design and construction of integrated urban plazas, woonerf (my bold and italics), sidewalks, trees, and urban furniture surrounding the buildings constructed at the Market Lands."

Speaking of Broadway renewal, did the city ever apply or get approved for that federal grant to make the street more tree friendly? Can’t remember exactly where I had read about it but it must have been a year or so ago
