Hammond River Brewing Company will be opening a 1,200-square-foot taproom at East Point Shopping Center, next to Taste of Egypt. They hope to start renovations next month.

Interesting spot for a taproom! Shame it isn't in uptown but I like when local business are filling vacant spots. So still a bonus in my eyes.

It's inspired. There should be a law that there is a taproom outside every big box store and mall.

I can understand the appeal of hitting a few quick pints after a weekend Costco shop lol.

Or, having a few pints while the wife does the Costco run.

If the housing proposals for East Point get built, this actually makes it a much more appealing place to live, it will have grocery stores, a few restaurants, good bus service, a local taproom and shopping.

I wonder what the status of that one is, it is a great proposal.

No idea of the status, I remember they got rezoned in 2019 and planned ~200 units but there hasn’t been any real activity since then

Yeah, adding more mixed use to amenity-dense retail districts makes a lot of sense. That the area is already set up for good transit service is icing on the cake. Just a shame this trend didn't arrive here sooner!

It would be a great spot for those who don't own a car, university students or older tenants. With a grocery store and a few restaurants within walking distance. Plus a small transit hub to get you to Uptown, UNB etc.

If Ashburn hasn’t already accepted that “The Crossing” isn’t happening they need to immediately and start investing in this housing development. East Point is pretty much full and has a number of solid tenants.

In this link, I happened to see, in the 3rd picture, that the signage for Hakim Optical is missing from the Tim Hortons building behind the guy with the white T-shirt.

Has that location of Hakim permanently closed, or have they moved?

Permanently closed. H&R Block is suppose to move to the newly created smaller spot next to the recently renovated Bulk Barn. This is to make room for a Blaze Pizza, right next to Tim Hortons. A owner of an interior renovation company told me this information a month ago.

Sorry to be hitting things hard in this thread the last little bit, but it looks like there's new ownership at this convenience store/pizza shop on the corner of Millidge & Spar Cove Road, and it's getting a reno.

The re-opening of the store is due for August 19.

Wow, it's been like that for as long as I can remember. Wish that corner lot could be redeveloped into something larger.

Thyme Maternity Relaunching in Canada this Fall in RW&CO. Stores
https://retail-insider.com/retail-inside...nada-this-fall-in-rwco-stores-interview/

Quote:
"17 selected stores from coast to coast will carry the Thyme Maternity collection in September and the retailer created a dedicated area in the stores for it".
According to their store locator, the only store in Atlantic Canada listed as "Maternity Store" is Saint John at McAllister Place.
So that means only SJ will carry Thyme Maternity in-store here in the Atlantic Region.

Calendar Club will be opening it's kiosk on October 24th inside McAllister Place. This year they will be in a different location, this time they can found in the main hallway going towards H&M. (Right next to the Hickory Farms kiosk that's also opening soon).

Is it just me or is the "Wasted Day Brewing" spot next to Gahan and Let's Hummus new?
I don't recall seeing it until a few days ago.

It’s brand new, they had a soft opening just the other day.

Yeah, it’s the folks from Long Bay Brewing in KV opening an Uptown location, haven’t been myself but heard good things this far. Jeremiah’s Deli of the City Market will be opening a sandwich counter inside it soon, which is very cool.
