I didn't even know we had one. I only thought there were a few condos and the McDonalds headquarters at tgat location.

Yeah, the building is well hidden. The Japanese community outgrew the building a while ago and moved to a much larger warehouse across the street from the Aga Khan. It's been a Muslim community centre since (still with the Japanese name on it) I don't think that would happen anywhere but Toronto.

Union Park is gonna have 3 slim buildings to fit on that parcel. Will be very cool backdrop to the dome looking north. Best part of is building a new park over rail corridor.

Sad to see Japanese Centre go, but do like the Winford design. Quite the cluster developing around DVP/Don Mills

How great can the space over the rail corridor be? The corridor is half the width of the corridor by CIBC Square with the looming concrete dome casting perennial shadows on the space. The four new skyscrapers have minimal spacing too. I was excited when the rail deck was proposed too. I just don't see it becoming that missing public amenity anymore and instead see it more likely as a forecourt or plaza for office workers to have a puff.

Dunno if Union Park will be a showcase, but it’s needed public space in this location and adds more than what’s there.

Also, the rail decking is getting interesting over Union corridor.

I'm certainly not implying showcase. My point was will it even suffice as that much need public space or become more of an office/hotel/stadium plaza/forecourt in which the city isn't lacking in spaces. The CIBC Square deck is done nicely or was it meant to be a public amenity. It's just a giant outdoor patio.

Decking between the convention centre and CN tower has greater opportunities for creating valued space than decking between the hulking Skydowe/ Skydome Hotel and Union Park

St Clair Place | 150m | 44s | Wittington | Diamond Schmitt l approved

Some new renderings: Yonge and St. Clair will be unrecognizable with this just-approved huge make-over that includes 44, 39, 27, 13 storey buildings, with nearly 1,400 residential units, retail and POPS + a new public park.

St. Clair Place is centre of the rendering, with Jean Gang’s wonderful artichoke (One Delisle u/c) on the right. Missing from this view is the (beautiful) 1 St. Clair West proposal from Gensler/Slate... future best intersection in the city?

2-20 Glazebrook | 115.24m | 34s | Gairloch | Gabriel Fain Architects l pre-construction

An interesting and different kind of block-busting. Gairloch is proposing to knock down 2/3rd of a 1995-built group of 2 storey McMansions in favour of a (very nice) 34 storey condo and retail project.

Gairloch is perhaps the best mid-rise builder in the city today (1414 Bayview u/c is one of the best in the city imo), and Gabriel Fain is a very good design firm. This one is north of Eglinton near Bayview.

2350 Yonge Street l 50s l 166.65m l Varacalli l pre-construction

Early days (no good renderings released yet) but 323 residential units with, suprisingly, zero parking.

822-838 Richmond Street West | ?m | 5s | Hullmark | Atelier Barda l pre-construction

A nice 8-storey infill mid-rise building with courtyards and winter garden, steps away from Trinity Bellwoods Park.

Harbourwalk at Lakeview Village | ?m | TRIDEL l Architects Alliance | pre-construction

Three conjoined 19 storey half-pyramids from Tridel, part of the huge Lakeview masterplan for 177 acres of waterfront in Port Credit.

"I am looking at you Rico".

So your town is proposing something similar to this Mississauga masterpiece...big deal.

Unrelated to the proposal (which is fine), but the recladding of the federal government-owned Arthuer Meighen Building shown here (the one with the Canada logo to the left - currently u/c) is still infuriating.

Well .. the terraced pyramid shaped buildings are uncommon overall so I guess so. The Olympic residences and the latest Tridel terraced pyramid (what is that? 6?) aren't that similar either.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but I like that Port Credit proposal, even though it looks a lot like the one in Montreal that's been around forever. I appreciate the weird shape.. and the lines are clean enough that I'm not bothered by it.

1414 Bayview i LOVE

I agree. It's a massive downgrade in design and looks like something plunked down in Meadowvale. It's a lazy design and wasteful considering the masonry thrown out from the old design, which could've been reintegrated into the new facade. I wouldn't even suggest recladding this with the same design, but a simpler homage to the old design.

I like St. Clair Place because of how much it'll intensify that plot of land, but I really dislike the street frontages, mostly the Yonge street section. There should be better ways to break up the facade and create a more human scaled, engaging facade and means of street interaction.

Frankly, I could care less what Tridel proposes over in Lakeview Village, although I wonder if the city will insist they stick to lower densities due to local NIMBYs/ the plan set forth in the master plan.

Behold the dumpster fire that is the Stephen Avenue Quarter proposal in Calgary:

https://calgary.skyrisecities.com/forum/...st-gibbs-gage.33683/page-33#post-1847673

This is the most flattering angle that minimizes the block long blank wall along 7th Ave. and the bland office cube that will be leveling our last remaining parcel of untouched heritage buildings.

I think the St. Clair reclad design looks great. Sorry to hear so many are bothered by it though.

If it were a new building, I'd say it looks good. Little bit sad to see what will be lost.
