I've always considered that stretch of King St. (from Scott to Cameron) the 'Chinatown' of KW, considering there are a couple of old school Asian grocers, banh mi shops, roast pork shops, etc. all within a block or two of eachother.

Sort of, although the mix of ethnic eateries/foods is what makes the area most interesting, istm. In addition to the ones you note, there’s Indian, African, Caribbean, Salvadoran, Portuguese, Lebanese, and Japanese among others in the area.

I stopped in that area during lunch time on my mini work trip. As is always the case, when food is expensed, I have a very hard time making up my mind on what to get. Try to get cuisine I don’t usually eat at home and get it in a big portion so I can eat some now and the rest later. But that also means it has to be something that can sit in the car for a while. In the end I chose to get food at my next stop because the two places I preferred weren’t open till 4 or the lineup was too long.

A fine looking house in Oakville. Well, other than that pergola (wooden gazebo) that happens to be situated on top of the garage and blocking out some of the windows for some reason. I would like to speak to the architect about this one.

P.S. anyone have any contenders in mind for future battles? Lately the level of ugliness has dropped from kaiju horror levels to mundane and bland vertical suburbs. Honestly the ugliest ones I can think of are facadectomied condo towers in Toronto

Couple from Port Dalhousie in St. Catharines. Love these neighbourhoods where no two houses are the same. A house can have ugly features but if it's well maintained and the others are too, and in attractive neighbourhood, then sign me up. I'd live in one of these houses.

This house is fine, though uninviting if you ask me. And it's along Lake Ontario. It's just that the side of the house has an ugly interaction with its neighbours. It looks like a utility builidng.

I like the reno, except for the two giant windows. I suppose those are shutters? It really just looks like two empty storefront signs. Like the shops vacated and they're waiting for new tenants.

Have you ever seen a rental apartment management office made out of plywood? On the outside? Or any structure other than a rudimentary shed? That would normally look out of place but this office fits in perfectly with the rest of this building in Waterloo.

In my U of W days I went to a party in one of these townhouses ( didn't look as craptastic as the more modern images..it was the 80's everything was shiny and new) and one of the party goers took the keys to a motorcycle that was owned by another party goer and a combination of a bit too much to drink and a slightly wet road caused the 'new' driver of the motorcycle to fly off the motorcycle and injury himself and the motorcycle. Ah, the crazy summer of 1986.

I did some totally mental things in 1986 that I would never tell anyone, and I hope that the guys who knew about them back then have forgotten it all through the mists of time.

Monster home drawing complaints in Richmond Hill. It’s built right up the max height and percentage of lot limits. Bet the city wants a do over on that bylaw.

Shades of the Brampton situation where the city approved the permit in error then went through a couple years of legal before it was taken down.

Agreed. Authentic mansard roofs such as those found in Quebec and France are beautiful. Then the 70's and 80's "renaissance" happened up until this day.

Speaking of funny trapezoidal roofs on highrises - my brother and I use to call this the Pizza Hut tower as kids. For a time I think I legitimately thought there was a Pizza Hut up there.
