at long last ......

Fried chicken chain continues massive expansion with two Vancouver locations
Plus more Metro Vancouver locations in the works, too!

https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/food-...xpansion-two-vancouver-locations-5558430

A representative for Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen shared with V.I.A. by email they will open a location in downtown Vancouver on Hamilton Street and one on Main Street "later this year." Exact addresses were not made available.

In addition, Popeyes will also be opening in Burnaby's Metrotown later in 2022. There is currently a Popeyes on Kingsway in Burnaby.

The fried chicken chain's Metro Vancouver expansion will find a Coquiltam location, with drive-through, opening in August.

Further afield in B.C., by the end of July there will be a Popeyes up and running in Courtenay on Vancouver Island.

anyone know the 2 Vancouver locations?

Is The Post considered a Hamilton St. address?
Doubt they'd open in Yaletown, 800 and 700 blocks (Smithe to Georgia) have no vacancies.

Right in the heart of Yaletown would be hilarious though.

It's either by Robson or Yaletown. I will bet on Robson. The Post occupancy is too far away you assume for anything opening this year.

There don't appear to be any vacant units near Robson. The former Triple O's in the CBC seems to have been taken back as office space.

I think it will be in the old Canada Post building. 1 of the towers opens in late 2022 and then the 2nd in 2023 with the food court, etc/

Quiznos has always been better to me than Subway. Subway food can be nauseating, but Quiznos actually tastes good for what it is, and doesn't make you sick. It might be a little dated obviously, but I find it decent still. Its big market is workers in suburban areas (ie. they have locations in Tilbury, industrial North Richmond, Queensborough, north Scott Rd.). These are places where office park/industrial/blue collar workers pack in at lunch time and give them what they need. So it's no surprise they opened on Fraser and Marine, they will get lots of workers at lunch from all the surrounding commerical and light industrial. They probably aren't targetting the residential neighbours. And there's not a ton of competition around, so they obv took that into account.

I'm all about local and everything, but when international chains give up on your city, it isn't great. Although I'll never go here, I wish them all the best

Pret A Manger looks ok. I will swing by for a Sando when in the area next.

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen locations in Vancouver will be at >>

- Main & 41st in the new 6 story rental building on the SW Corner.
- Hamilton & Georgia in The Post

and The Metrotown location looks to be at Station Square Phase 5.

Pret and A&W, a match made... somewhere?

I'm sure they will do fine, it's just weird they didn't go for a mini-kiosk version on their own.

Will A&W heat up my Pret food?

edit: I see that whole rack is hot. That's not great if it's sitting there for hours.

No different than their other kiosk locations. I mean if something doesn't sell within the set time it gets binned.

I'm not much of a fast food guy at all these days, but I'll definitely hit up Popeyes when I'm downtown.

The Alpen Club restaurant shuts down today, apparently. I believe that site is being shut down for redevelopment. Are there any remaining German restaurants left in Vancouver proper? I can't think of one.

That is one thing that is completely missing from Vancouver and there was a presence decades ago, a German restaurant and a solid German Beer Hall (craft and other "halls" are just not the same).

I would guess that given most german food is not instagram friendly, not something that would be successful here.

Jägerhof Restaurant in North Van
The Old Bavaria Haus Restaurant in New West
Bavaria Restaurant in Abbotsford
Kaisereck Deli on Granville Island

will do for the 3 years it takes to complete the new Alpen Club.

Hmm, interesting that Popeyes is opening 8 short blocks from Mary's Brown's on the same street, and will be the only location in Vancouver for either... And it's not like this is Davie, chock a block with restaurants, this was Punjabi market territory that is seeing some new residential mid-rises (and it seems previously exotic chocken places) And Church's is right around there too. Although I'm sure delivery services are going to be a big part of their success
