Hm, seems silly to introduce legislation to restrict and hurt yourself financially. I hope they're smart and use an amended RTA without the questionable stuff like rent control.

Brewery crawling through here last weekend with some architect buddies... the aesthetics of this area is gaining and going to be so so solid in 5 years. Just hope the new street trees survive.

New Quebec bike lane is shaping up too. Westbank's projects (Main+Alley look really nice).

Is the old school at Quebec and 6th approved or still negotiations with the City? Thought it was approved for moving the school to the alley for arts space.

Anyone else walk on those metal grates over those ventilation ducts in the alley next to M2? It feels like there's a 40-50 foot drop (I think it goes to P5 in the parking)

Based on how its UDP review went yesterday, that's probably the last time that version of the proposal will be seen.

I'm not exaggerating when I say pretty much everything except the height, and density. The word "unbuildable" was used several times.

I hope the UDP is not pretending to be Code consultants due to the open air corridors

Because it's so different than any other midrise build before?

Vancouver City Council have a approved a new City Plan. Various changes/additions made by Council Members, so no approved final version online yet.

Councillor Hardwick, needless to say, was not impressed: "The legacy was participatory community planning. However, this plan takes a wrecking ball or a steamroller (to Vancouver and previous plans)."

Hardwick providing a solid definition of NIMBYism: "participatory community planning", as expected

Yeah. The area is really coming together. There's a good amount of street activity everywhere now. So many coffee shops, breweries, little tech/IT companies and parks in the area. We are always at Johnathon Rogers Park on the weekend. Such a good vibe there.

I'm really confused by the 12th and Clark controversy. That corner is bunk; loud, busy and semi-rundown. Is it because it looks too "flashy" for the area? I live a few blocks away, and would love to see that corner developed. What's the city looking for for that site specifically? Hopefully, the feedback they offer is concise.

It looks as if Keltic's 'Nexus' strata office next to the new St Paul's could start construction soon. There are some materials on site, and now a builder's banner has been added, (Syncra Construction). This could be premature - Ventana put their banned on GWL's 'False Creek Station' site (next to the station) a couple of months ago, but so far there doesn't seem to have been any construction activity.
