Austin & Dallas--May 2022

Both Austin and Dallas continue to boom, benefitting from tech growth and corporate expansions/relocations. I spent a few days in each city in May.

The Domain is becoming Austin's second downtown. Located about 9 miles north of downtown, this new urbanist, mixed-use development has developed rapidly over the past ten years.

All over downtown, the cityscape is transformed as older 1 and 2 story buildings are being replaced with 40+ story high-rises.

South Congress: Located just south of downtown, this formerly gritty strip is now one of the trendiest areas in Austin. Despite lots of new development, there remains a core of businesses which helped establish its identity as a unique Austin attraction. Hopefully, the new developments won't overwhelm the older businesses--a balance will be tricky to maintain.

Haven't been to Austin since either 2005 or 2006 when I was still living in Houston, but I'd like to visit again. Obviously major changes since then and your photos definitely have me interested in checking it out!

Look at super Austin, even catching closer to Calgary.

I am the first one to link Austin and Calgary comparison, They o do share some similarities more than other else.
